How can I extend my lease?

My car is due to be turned in Dec. 1st, 2009, I'm still awaiting to find out if I'm going to be accepted to law school in January and if so I'm going to hold off buying an expensive car for another year or two. Infiniti said they could normally extend a lease for 6-months but since mine was a single-pay lease they do not want to let me keep mine for any longer. Not sure why it matters that I paid them up front vs. monthly but this is their excuse... Any idea how I can keep my car for a few extra months, I'm still 8,000 miles short of 30,000 and would like to hold off on buying a new car for a few months.

Any suggestions, not going to buy this one btw.

Problem is you really paid for a period of time and this is a major problem when you are trying to extend it. Since you paid up front, there will need to be further payment made for the time not paid. If you did not use the miles, well that's too bad. This is why I do not lease. Everytime I have leased, I have gotten burned financially in the end. But these arrangements are pretty tight and given the current car market, they would love to have some income from selling your car above thier depreciated price. Goood luck, but approaching them now may be the best method.

Who are you dealing with DGC? Have you talked to IFS or only the dealer? If only dealer, talk to IFS.

I've talked to IFS but there is nothing I can do unless I have another Infiniti on order and delivery is delayed beyond my due date.

I would price out the difference between the buy-back, and what you think you can get for it down the road... (In 6 mos, 1 year, etc.)

P.S. You find out in Jan?! I found out in March! Good Luck man!

I got screwed with my 1st gen G35 when i leased it they said yeah you can extend it up to 6 months at the end no problem.

When it came to the end and i wanted to extend it, they said no, i had to be preapproved and have perfect payment history and perfect credit and this and that, it was a big song and dance which i think is all BS.

I talked to IFS and they offered to extend my lease for me no problem. Mine runs up next month but I told them I was looking at the 2010 G37 which doesn't come out til January. She immediately sent me paperwork to extend at the same price i've been paying. You may want to try that route.
