We had standing appointments every Monday and Thursday with 1 of 2 doctors. We nicknamed the one Doom and Gloom.

2 minutes of vigorous hand washing every time you entered. They had timers lol.

You're dead on with the hand washing. Now that you say that I remember them saying 2 minutes.

Good news: I ordered my Alutec aluminum strut tower brace.

Bad news: It is sold out until the end of August.

Good news for Rochester: This means I will probably pay my shop to install my motor mounts within the next month. (I have been waiting for my best technician to have some free time to do this on the side, but he has been constantly busy. Also he just found out he has a daughter... who is 9 years old. Who in the world waits 9 years to tell the father of a child who they are?? #bitchesbecrazy)

At this point I'd say your opinion on these mounts is the one I'm most interested in.

Let's hope they make a better impression than the collars.

So I brought the car in Thursday to have the motor mounts installed and my service department told me that they were short 1 technician so I would have to bring the car in Friday. No problem, I work here. So today I pull in the service department and they tell me that my technician is off today. WTF? I am offsite for training all next week so now I am on the schedule for Aug. 6th and told the technician will be here. And this is a really good service team. No wonder you guys get upset with your service department. If I had to make a trip twice and was turned away twice, I wouldn't come back.

In their defence, if I was running a service department I would turn away an internal employee before an external customer.... priorities. Hopefully you would have received a phone call if you were external...

The annoying part is that I had an appointment both times. The 1st time they screwed up and forgot that they were down to only 1 of their 2 top technicians. They did not have any service scheduled for him or external customers waiting, but wanted to keep him open just in case. I can kind of see their point on that one, but the appointment should not have been scheduled if they knew they were going to be down to 1 tech and that was going to be an issue.

The second time my appointment got cancelled by the service department was completely their fault. They scheduled me for an appointment with a technician who was not even on the schedule that day. These are easy problems to fix so I can see how easy it is to get frustrated with a service dept.

The Z1 motor mounts got installed yesterday and I have to say I am impressed. I did not realize how much slop was in the drive line until I did this. The shifting is much more precise, the throttle seems more responsive, and the entire car just feels more solid. This came after only 1 mile of driving so it is pretty noticeable. Combined with my other mods, my car has completely transformed from being one of the most difficult to drive smoothly into one of my all time favorites. The phenomenon of watching your shifter move drastically forward and backward every time you accelerate or lift off the throttle is finally almost 100% gone. (The transmission mount helped a bit with this too) I was worried it would add significant NVH, but that is not the case at all. It is not nearly as drastic as the amount of NVH that the transmission mount added and I am hard pressed to notice any actual difference. If your car is bone stock, maybe you would have a noticeable difference. The Z1 motor mounts are also quite a bit lighter.

Here's the catch- make sure you find a very good technician who can do this on the side or does not charge a ton for labor. My master Nissan tech took about 3 hours to install these and he said the throttle bodies just barely cleared the firewall when he tipped the motor to sneak in the motor mounts. The Nissan book calls for 7.8 hours in labor and wants you to drop the entire motor and then unbolt it from the subframe. This should not be your first mod to the car, but consider it if you have already done a fair amount of mods and want to really get rid of the drive line slop.

YES! Awesome news.

Eight or nine years ago, I swapped out the OEM motor mounts in my Maxima SE 6MT, and it was the most amazing, transformative mod ever. Shifting became butter smooth, and throttle response felt instantaneous.

This is something I've always wanted to do with my G, and I can't tell you how pleased I am to hear how this turned out.

Keep writing. Love to read more about your impressions on this mod.

I think your experience with the Maxima motor mounts will be very similar with the G. I was surprised how much difference those parts made, probably because all the bushings I replaced in the rear of the car really did not seem to do much of anything. I really like driving this car now that it is so much more precise- very BMW M3-like. I slid the back end out today while getting on an on ramp and felt like I had total control. No complaints.
