Hey guys, I'm a noob here so bear with me on this one. First post. I have a 2013 g37x sedan. I need some help determining a tire size and wheel recommendation as far as width and offset.. I don't want to stagger, I want to square it. I want to go with a 20" rim. Right now I'm looking at a 20x9 +38 offset. Can I work with that? I plan on lowering it soon with ksport coil overs, is this a good brand? Also, will this mean I need camber kits for front and rear? I assume I'll need alignment for sure. Will the +38 offset be ok? I really don't want to rub or roil fenders. Thanks in advance guys! Any help will be appreciated. I'm really hoping for some good advice. Thank you blnewt for the help so far! You're the man.

No problem
Those 9" +38 will work just fine, you can run up to a 255/35/20 but a 245/35/20 tire will be best for speedometer accuracy and a little more clearance to the fender. The KSport is the one "true" coilover for the AWD X model. This means the rear shock/spring setup is together, the factory setup has a separate rear spring and shock. The rear shock/spring seems to be an area where noises occur so having a "true" rear coilover may reduce the possibility of noises back there. There's not much feedback on teh K Sports but the limited info has been good. The Fortune 500s are an option that get generally good reviews so I'd consider them too.

As far as camber kits, I'd definitely go w/ a rear kit and the front should be considered if you plan on dropping much more than an inch.

Thanks bl! Much appreciated! I'll go with that tire size all the way around for now then I'll start looking into those fortunes and camber kits. I was told I'd be better off with coil overs rather than springs. I'm just barley learning about coil overs and camber kits / toe. If I'm spending this kind of dough I want to make sure I'm doing it right! Thanks for the info!

piggy backing onto this comment, any advice for a set of 20x10 ET40? looking to do a set with these specs and also looking at doing H&R springs or possibly a less aggressive eibach pro kit?? Thanks

Edit: sorry for a so to speak duplicate question, i guess it now should be has anyone any advice for the front clearance, i have an xs sedan and am upgrading to bbk so i may run into a problem with my choice of wheels (sothis sc2), but i am curious about fender clearance

The wheels will poke in front but if you run a slightly stretched tire (like a 255/35/20) they'll clear the fender. Just need to verify BBK clearance w/ the wheel vendor.

I don't believe H&R makes AWD springs, your choices are Eibach, Tanabe, & Swift AFAIK.

thanks, I was actually thinking 265/30/20 but more tire is better for the roads i drive, esp with 20s

ah yeah, thanks for pointing that out. I was looking at a third party site that apparently doesn't know that. I confirmed that you are correct on H&Rs site.

After seeing simpson's car, I thought the 20x10.5 +25 setup may have worked for me, so I put my two back wheels on one side of my car. I am also lowered on Eibach Pro-Kit springs as he is. I have 20x10.5 +25 wheels with 255/35R20 tires, so my tires are a little more narrow than simpson's. I will be sticking with my staggered fitment since the front wheel was clearly protruding more than the rear. If you are standing at the fender looking downward you can see the tire sticking out by probably 10-15mm in the front, while the rear is flush. Side pictures do not really capture this so I wanted to share my experience with anyone considering the setup. You will also need an aftermarket bumper or lip and IPL sideskirts like simpson has to make the front wheels not look awkward. My sport with splash shield sideskirts and 08-10 sport/11-15 nonsport bumper did not adequately handle this size wheel and tire. I'm sure it would only be worse with 275/30R20 tires mounted. It's a very nice setup that simpson pulls off nicely, but I think it will require some extra camber (I'm at the far negative end of OEM specs) and body mods to look right such as simpson's car. It didn't look terrible on my car, it just looked awkward to me compared to my current setup.



For comparison, this is with a 20x9 +20 front wheel with the same brand tire in the same 255/35R20 size.



I thought this would be a nice case study to add to the database. It shows what the 10.5 +25 square setup looks like with a 255/35 tire and also directly compares to the staggered counterpart.

First time buyer here just need a bit of help. I have a 2011 g37 non sport coupe lowered on tanabe sustec coils. I'm looking to run a squared set up and the wheels that i'm considering are 20x10 with a +25 offset. I'm at a complete roadblock in terms of tire sizes however. I would prefer stretch but very minimal as this is my daily. Can anybody provide suggestions for tire sizes for this set up? Thanks in advance

My setup is 20x10.5 +27 with 255/35/20 tires. You should be able to run 255/35 on your 20x10 +25 no problem. That will give you less tire stretch than mine.
