Can someone who has had this fixed by the dealership post up their repair order? I made an appointment to get mine in this next week for repair and they claim that they have never heard of it. I thought that if someone had a repair order, I could print it off and take it right to them and have them perform those steps to fix it.

Thanks for your help in advance- this noise is driving me nuts!

Unhappy Windshield popping noise with 2008 G37 Coupe

2009 G37x Sedan.
Sounds like the same noise. Usually when its cold. Dissappeared completely while the dealer had it for two days. Started up again the day after I got it back. Very intermittant so its hard for them to diagnose.
It'll rattle on the way to work (below 50 degrees F), then its gone by noon after sitting in the parking lot.

Sure makes a new car feel old!

I had the same problem on my 2008 G37S with 6 speed manual.
I took it in to the delearship and they said they fixed it by adjusting a couple of nuts at the moon roof.
But it was making the same noise and I wen back immediately the other day, this time they diagnosed it to be the C-pillar (or something) near the windshield vipers.
This solved the issue.
I live in Atlanta and I got this done at Nalley Infiniti, Marietta.

Heck my old Acura 3.2CL Type S did this exact thing. I don't remember my G35 Coupe doing it though.

Guys..

I drove my roommate's Nissan Sentra 2007 and it makes the same windshield popping noise that our G37s do. He complained but they were unable to repeat it... probably due to the fact that he complained in the summer and he told me he hears it mostly when it gets cold.

I wonder if this is a rampant issue and it encompasses more than just the G37s....

I was in a rented 2008 Sentra for 3 days and didn't have this problem. Could be because I was in Miami but I think I heard this popping on my G last summer.

I found references to 2 TSB's on the 2003 G35 which sound like what I am experiencing with my G37:

68. STRUCTURE Bulletin Number: 02028A
Bulletin Date: SEP 2002
Vehicle: 2003 Infiniti G35
Summary:
CREAK OR RATTLE NOISE FROM THE BASE OF THE WINDSHIELD. ( NHTSA ITEM NUMBER - 10000129 )

70. VISIBILITY:WINDSHIELD Bulletin Number: ITB02028A
Bulletin Date: SEP 2002
Vehicle: 2003 Infiniti G35
Summary:
INFORMATION PERTAINING TO A SQUEAK, CREAK, OR RATTLE NOISE COMING FROM THE CENTER OF THE DASH OR BOTTOM OF THE WINDSHIELD WHILE DRIVING. ( NHTSA ITEM NUMBER - 635640 )

Does anyone know how to get the actual TSB's?

Thanks.

My dealer took my car for 3 days and drove it 19 miles and they could not accurately reproduce the sound. I was instructed to return if it got worse or when it's cold.

It's not too bad.... I guess. I drove an $80,000 M3 and it had its own squeeks.

Meh.

not temperature related

This popping sound you all are talking about, sounds a lot like what I had fixed. It only occurred when the car was flexed, such as turning into or out of a driveway that was angled up or down from the roadway. It almost sounded like glass cracking at the base of the windshield, from center of dash over to in front of the passenger seat. A tech went for a ride with me and we drove around, me behind the wheel, until we found the right conditions and were able to replicate. Took a while, but worth it. After the tech heard the noise a few times, he was able to locate the source and get it fixed. Just dropping the car off and expecting someone else try to find something like this will seldom produce a good ending.

Anyway, turns out it was the plastic trim around the outside of the front window that was snapping against the glass whenever the car was flexed just right. Not sure how he fixed it, but it's been gone for months now.

If this is the same problem, I'd suggest spending some time driving around the area where your dealer is located, until you can find the right spot to replicate the problem, then take a tech for ride

Yup, front window = windshield. Where the windshield and dash meet, on the passenger side. Although there were times where it sounded like it might have been coming from the sunroof. That was just the way the sounds were moving around the car.
