Question Will 245/45/18 rub on 2012 G37x Sport OEM Wheels?

Hi all, sorry I have searched lots but couldn't find a simple answer to this question. I have a 2012 G37x Sport with OEM 18 x 7.5 wheels.

The stock tire size is 225/50/18 all around, but I want to upgrade to 245/45/18. I know the overall circumference is almost the same so no concerns there. I just wanted to know if there would be any rubbing with the extra width in tire size against the vehicle?

I do not see many (any really) others with this set up. I assume it is because people are concerned about tire bulge and degraded cornering performance, or there is rubbing with the extra width?? Anyone with experience in this set up that can comment? Thx!

Depends which tire you go with and their recommended wheel width range.
Here's a sample from Toyo, as you can see the T1 Sport starts at 8", but the other tires start at 7.5. Just keep in mind when you run tires on the narrowest recommended width the sidewall stability isn't as strong as it is on wheels wider in that range.

Hmm, after searching on other threads would I be better of waiting on lowering my car before getting a set of aftermarket wheels? Looking online I'm swayed towards Rohana RC7s in matte graphite.

With my current tires being 225/45 front and 245/40 rear, would a set of the RC7s at 19x8.5 +35mm offset and 19x9.5 +40mm offset work with my car? I'm trying to use the different calculators and whatnot, but this is confusing! I've contacted some sellers and they recommend 275 for rear tires.

On a sedan those will fit fine, might want a bit less positive on the offsets w/ a coupe. 245/40 front 275/35 rear will fit well. If you have the big sport brakes YOU MUST confirm clearance prior to ordering, many wheels don't have enough room.

Copy that! Thanks blnewt. I do have the big brakes so I'll be sure to double check with the sellers.

Maybe I should just stick to my original option and just get my oem sport wheels powder coated to gunmetal.

What's up fellas!?? I'm getting wheels for my RWD Sedan VERY soon and wanted your input. I'm looking at the AG M510 19" wheels. These wheels come in 8.5" and 9.5". I was wanting to do the 9.5" (et40) square set up to get that dual concave look, but still wanted to have the appearance of being wider in the rear. What do you guys think of having wider tires in the rear with the same width wheel? Say...255/40 in front and 285/40 in the rear??

That's pretty much my current setup, running 18x9.5 +38 w/ 245/45 & 285/40 and I think the 255/45 in front would be best~

If you have a Sport model you MUST confirm brake clearance prior to ordering!

Awesome! Thanks for the reply. Would it be safe to say that I wouldn't need spacers for clearance purposes up front? I don't have the Sport model.

Sorry, I should have clarified. I'm not worried about clearing the brakes in this case, but the suspension components on the inside.

19x9.5+40 will be fine on the inside, if you were running 18s w/ a +45 then it's super close to the bend in the steering arm but the 19s have more room there, and a +40 offset 5mm more too. You'll be golden, and no worries in back either.

Keep in mind if you're running oem wheels, you will need new conical/tapered seat lug nuts (12x1.25 thread) and hub adapter rings, not 100% sure on the AG bore, 73.1mm is pretty common, and the Gs bore is 66.1mm. Once you verify the AG bore just go to ebay and get aluminum ones, they run about $15.

I'm getting the set shipped to me already mounted and balanced with tires and lug nuts are included. I would assume they would send me the correct ones? But, I didn't even think about the hub adapter rings. I am on stock wheels right now. I'll have to look into that.

Aggressive setup

Hey guys I’m thinking on buying a wheel+tire setup for my new 09 g37s. I want to get 255x35x19 +35( front ) and 295x30x19 +22 ( rear ). Do you think I can run that or will I have running issues? I’m planning on rolling the fenders to get the figment right. Should I run it or go for a smaller set up?

what wheel widths are you considering? And do you have a sedan or coupe?
