bigger wheels but not growing width?

Hey guys, What's appropriate tire size for 19" rims? I want to 19" rims but don't want get wider tires, is there a way I can do that? If there is no choice to go wide, how much slower would it be when accelerating? is it noticeable? Please help and thanks in advance!

Why do you think wider tires = slower acceleration?!? ...larger/smaller diameter (17, 18, 19, 20, etc.) does sometimes have an effect, but not width. Width will effect grip and handling.

Rays Prodrive GC-014i for sale

^ I think that these would be perfect for you. These are 19x8.5 all around. Bigger in diameter but not overly wide. Also, they are super light at 21 lbs per wheel which is much lighter than the coupe 19's. LMK if you are interested.

Wider tires of equal type will typically have higher rolling resistance, that's probably what the OP is referring to.

+1 on the Prodrive's, it's not typical to find wheels of that size that are lightweight and affordable.

True. But unless you are going all out 24 hour at Le Mans for every 1/10 of a second you can get, NO ONE is going to feel or know the difference in "acceleration" as the OP was referring to.

OP - a 225 vs a 255, etc. is going to have NO adverse effects on acceleration or quarter mile times. NONE. It will as I previously stated effect grip and handling.

I hate to assume, so i threw it out there. Rolling resistance does play a part in mileage.

p.s. it's "affect".

Maybe you should get the coupe's 19s. The fronts are 19x8 I believe.

just make sure to get the proper height as it can mess with your tpms

Actually, width can affect grip and handling by effecting grip and handling, in a relative sense.

LOL.. I was thinking about the word variation as I was typing, but can never get the two right.

Yeah, I was pretty sure that "affect" expressed what you were actually thinking, but the grammar police have more important offenders to go after. I subscribe to four G forums, two tractor forums, several Linux forums, and a handful of others, and every day I see posts that are so garbled as to be almost unintelligible. Note that I didn't split that infinitive.

What I was thinking was as the tire width go wider the surface of contact between tires and ground will increase. 225 to 255 is 30mm increase, as the friction getting bigger should the resistance become greater to slower the acceleration?

Wider tires will also add more weight.
