So going from Neptune to Orange you'll pretty much be driving by me Exit 136 off of Garden State parkway

You should come out! It seems to be getting larger and larger. Would be awesome if we took over the park

I'm looking at this place through Google Earth this morning, and wondering how in the world it can support as many cars as could possibly show up, which is looking to easily be between 30 and 40 now. Add to that locals who just want to launch thier canoes, picnic or whatever...

I picked this place based upon previous meet sizes and location and set the scope accordingly. If we're wanting to re-visit the scope then we'll need other options.

I'd like the stakeholders to think about constraints, contingencies and risks. Then we can make a decision. I may be helping plan this, but we'll need buy-in from everyone for it to work.

We'll, obviously, have to locate other, larger places that have a reservation available. Then we will need to cancel reservations for this site, hotels, etc. Then make hotel reservations near the new site. These are the risks due to summer vacations and the Poconos being a destination.

We may, in the end, opt to let it play out.

Sean

(You see, if we hadn't let the 'Verts in, we wouldn't have a capacity problem.)

There's a pretty large beach, with an equally large picnic area, a building, a dock into the water, and parking for maybe a dozen cars. That's not us... that's the beach.

There's a canoe beach section with another dock, and what looks like parking for 20 cars and 20 buses. While large enough to accommodate, assuming we take over the bus parking... that's also not us.

There's a boat launch next to that, with another dock, a large turn-around for the launch. That's an access area for the boat launch, not parking.

And then there's our pavilion across from the canoes behind a section of trees, which seems to have its own parking area. That parking area is probably all for the pavilion, because it looks impractical for anything else. It's just hard to gauge its size through Google Earth because of the foliage, but if you look at he size of cars in the picture, and try to guess fitment... 20 cars, maybe. More than that, and people will be lining up down the wooded access road.

Like Trezzay suggested... sure would be great if someone could scope out the pavilion area now. If someone does, pics would be nice for confirmation.

Thanks Roch.

I suspect that bus parking is for vehicles with boat trailers.

I agree, pre-visit is what is needed. Sounds like the perfect job for this site's newest admin. LOL.

Here's another idea... for the sake of argument, let's assume the Pavilion area is sufficient. Note that there's a single access road which dead-ends at the pavilion, with a small circular turn-around at the end of the parking area. If someone put one or two parking cones either at the front of that access road, or at the base of the parking area, with a sign that reads, "This parking is reserved for an event"... that might dissuade locals who were going to park there for whatever reason. Hiking, dog walking, making out in Dad's truck, etc.

There's also a path/road off our parking area that dead-ends to what look like a small storage building. Probably park-maintenance.

That was odd. Couldn't figure out if Sean was being satirical or not... but gave him a pass because he's organizing. I think once you get your PMP black-belt, you've learned enough to stop with the word salad. So maybe he's not there yet.

The PMI doesn't award a black-belt for PMP. I think your referring to Lean Six Sigma which confers belts.

And yes, I was being satirical, and yes I'm a PMP and an LSS Black Belt.

That's right! I knew that once. OMG... you corporate geek.

I've been so removed from that world over the last decade. Happily so, too.

Count me in. I'm probably bringing my friend who's rolling in a white xS sedan (he's too cool to register on this forum )
