Living in the G

Well, I just got home tonight from a business trip that started last Sunday and spanned 1,000 miles throughout Virginia in my G. I must say the car is very easy to live with, and the nav just kicked a$$. I did not get lost once. I now know one full tank will give me give or take 500 miles range, approximately 130 miles per quarter tank with AC running. Which is about 30 miles better than my 300E per quarter tank.

I drove through some rather rural part of the state, and boy do I get some odd looks from the local "homies" in the souped up 80's vintage POS. I think some of them have never seen one, let alone get up closed and personal to a G One dude actually told me my car is pretty odd looking, he said he had never seen one like it and he wanted to know who makes it. How funny.

Didn't you say this was rural parts of Virginia? John, that explains it.

Glad you enjoyed the trip. Some thing its uncomfortable for long periods of time because of the seat. Longest trip I've taken is to Harrisonburg (2-3 hours for me) and wasn't any problems at all.

There are parts of Virginia I will avoid alll together....same goes for MD. But about an hour south of JMU in a small town called 'Staunton', life moves juuust a tad slower. not to mention when i was down there visiting my sister's friend i noticed there only exist 2 races black/white. in addition they live in separate areas, shop in separate malls and i think you guys get the drift. i felt like i was in the book 'to kill a mockingbird'. while walking through a park merely viewing a baseball match a guy looks over and says 'what you lookin at boy' and thats when i decided it was time to leave. i aint ever gone further south than woodbridge since!!

Last weekend, some of my friends and I were "driving" through 522 just south of Front Royal (just east of where 66 hits 81). That's pretty far out West, practically WVA, so we were opening it up on the nice twisties. To make a long story short, 5-0 was perched behind some weeds and tagged us on one nice stretch. I got away, but the boxster and A4 received reckless tix. No place in VA is safe.

damn man that's horrible, I was in Stafford a coupe months ago but I didn't bring the G, it was pretty southern and I only remember seeing white people. I'll be doing a 5-6 hour drive to the beach after work so I'll let you know how it goes with the seats.

Yep, Staunton and Waynesboro were some of the towns I stopped to meet with the Commissioner of the Police. There are places out at Appomatex (sp?) area where you see more trees than anything else. The scenery on Route 460 West was absolutely beautiful though. Road was straight but up and down the rolling hills, made me feel like riding a roller coaster. I caught a glimpse of the sunset over the Blue Ridge one evening and it was stunning. Wish I had my digi camera with me.

If you really want to see some mountain men, go down to Galax and Bristol, VA. Now, that's a real eye opener I was told most girls in those areas are track stars by the time they turn 12. You see, they have to out run their daddies and older brothers

I was surprised to find out you still can buy a big house for under $200K in the Richmond area. Guess once you are out of N VA area, things are cheap.

Western Maryland; near Camp David, just outside of Frederick, is well known for its roots with the KKK.
