Question Should I approve this dealer recommended maintenance?

G37, Coupe, AT, 58,000 miles, Georgia, City Driven, Engine looks soooo clean.
All required maintenance has been completed in the past.

Should I pay the dealer and have the following recommended maintenance completed?

1) Automatic transmission fluid contaminated/burnt ($365)
2) brake fluid dirty/contaminated ($143)
3) power steering fluid dirty/contaminated ($186)
4) Alignment (the car is not pulling) ($85)
5) Rear differential fluid dirty/contaminated ($195)

Thanks! Also -does anyone have an original front door speaker for sale used?

All of that is legitimate maintenance at your mileage. The dealership prices are way high, but it is what it is. If you are a reasonable capably DIYer or have a private garage you'll save tons of money. Or if you want "dealership peace of mind" let them do it. Those are all legit 60K mile services.

What about the AT service, how do they know it's contaminated. At least if it's a 7AT they are sealed.
They are also no maintenance.

Good question... It is a 5 Speed AT. That is sealed as well - correct? How would they know that it is burnt?

Perhaps it's simply mileage related, like the rear diff. They can't check it either. It's simply changed at a mileage interval.

i would seriously get a second opinion. those prices are REALLY high...unless there is something extra that they're doing.

Update**

I spoke with the dealer and he said that is "standard wording". So when it says "we found your car fluid to be dirty/burnt". That *may* mean that they didnt even look at it and it is recommended based upon what they have seen in other cars with *similar* mileage.

In other words, be careful what you approve based upon their "observations" and use your own good judgement for items needed based upon your driving habits and knowledge.

I am now pretty sure that I just paid for an alignment for no reason. I do have new tires on the car but it wasn't pulling. The alignment wasnt a bad idea; but, now I have no idea if it was really needed or just recommended based upon my having 60k miles.

Those are all good things to do at 60k, i just think you can do it yourself (if your comfortable) or get it done at another shop for much cheaper

Thanks guys. This is only my second time at the dealer as I just purchased the car recently. They replaced alot for me under warranty last time there and I am still trying to stay a little close to the dealer in case I find something crazy with the new car. It is true that they are a little easier to fix/replace under warranty when they were doing the maintenance on it.

I just took my 2013 G37 sedan in for its 18750 mile oil and filter change. The maintenance recommendations included replacing dirty brake fluid ($139.95), dirty power steering fluid ($136.95), complete EFI service ($244.95), rear differential service ($128.88), and rear brakes have 1 - 2 mm remaining ($269.95). Total = $915.68. They also said there is a bent front sub frame ($2340), broken radiator core support ($1904), and the passenger side muffler is bent ($725.33), total = $4969.71. Grand total = $5885. Incredible. Bought the car from Carmax in March 2015, and drove 1500 in city only miles. I am a "senior citizen," and not driving like Steve McQueen in the classic flick, Bullitt. Suspect the previous lessee hot rodded the car in Los Angeles, where this lemon originated. Shortly after buying the car, which really a beauty, discovered no coolant in the reservoir, and a few minor issues that were easily remedied. Are these findings by Infiniti dealerships the norm? If they found problems, why didn't Carmax with its highly touted "125 point inspection" they claim to spend 12 hours doing on every car they buy?? Thinking about selling the car and buying a bike (with training wheels, I guess). Thank you.

^^Did they show you the 1-2mm remaining on the rear brakes? I'd get a second opinion. If it's truly 1-2mm remaining, by all means get the pads changed and rotors cut.

Brake fluid: recommended every 2 years regardless of miles

Power steering fluid is easy enough to change yourself by evacuating what's in there, refill, bleed (turn the wheel lock to lock while running with the front wheels off the ground several times), repeat the above 2-3 times.

Fuel injection service: Probably not needed this early, there's a DYI posted. Wait til 30K miles

Diff service: Just like doing an oil change, takes 1.5 qts

The other broken parts sound like they're a result of some accident. Maybe car insurance will cover those.

If you can't do the maintenance yourself, take it to an independent shop. The services are easy to do so they shouldn't rape you as bad as the dealer.

When was the last time you aligned? Your car does not have to pull for it to need an alignment. Since you just got new tires I think you've made the right decision to have it aligned. Tell them to give you a before and after print out sheet so you can check.

i know this is an old topic but to the next reader thinking about this, its a coil flip. Good way to build a relationship with your local dealer being that all these maintenance things need to be done around this milage

Reviving it again because I'm at 28k miles and looking to get some maintenance done. I've only put 1500 miles on the car since purchasing and now I'm worried! A grand for routine 30k maintenance? O.O
