30K service - Dealer or Independent?

greetings gang.....
my 2012 G37 coupe is due for its 30K service. Dealer wants something like 500-800 bucks....seems steep to me, would any of you go Independent shop?
pro's and cons are appeciated.

Also if any of you are in the Raleigh-Durham area and recommend an Independent shop it would be appreciated.

Regards,

I went to an independant that worked for Infiniti and Nissan for almost 20 years. I paid like $275 and the dealer wanted 700...you do the math. Good luck

30K service - Dealer or Independent?

Go independent trusted shop, I'm about to do the same, brake fluid replacement, cabin air filter replacement, air filters still okay on my car maybe they got changed before I bought it, but there's no point in paying the dealer 700 when you can spend 300 at a independent shop, I want to go my rear differential fluid as well not sure if now tho

What do you guys do when going to an independent shop? What's the process?
1) how do you find a respectable shop?
2) how do you know what needs done? would the shop just know?

First look it up on here many will recommend to do air filter, cabin air filter, brake fluid, differential fluid. There some threads on here and also on your maintenance book, I'm going to do the brake fluid, cabin air filter since my oil already changed and when they did my oil change they said my air filters were good too. Differential I should be changing soon but I also heard I can wait until 60k. Have them check your brakes as well

How to find a reputable shop I normally look online actually and read reviews, maybe there some near you that specialize in Inifniti and Nissan but not necessarily needed when changing brake fluid, cabin air filter, differential fluid not really a hard thing to do, make sure they have good reviews and are bbb accredited.

Thanks, yea there is a place near me that looks decently reputable(4* on yelp). I also checked the Infiniti dealership near me(there's only 1) and they're charging $300 for 30k maintenance or $700 for "recommended" 30k maintenance. So I'm not sure if I should go to the local place, I'm assuming that'll be much cheaper... or just do the cheaper option of the 30k maintenance at $300 at a reputable infiniti dealership

4 stars on yelp pretty good, look up comments about it and how many reviewers and it'll point you to the right direction

Full diagnostic, all fluids and filters changed, brake check, tire rotation, trans check, checked all belts...the guy was very thorough. I found him on the interwebs and its not too far from my house. He had 5 stars across the board and that was good. I went to the shop in person to meet the guy and ask about the services to see how he was and how the shop was. It was a clean shop, he was straight forward and honest, and just a nice guy. That was enough for me

i want to thank you guys for the info....i'm really leaning towards independent. dealer tried to sell me on the "we use genuine infinti stuf " blah blah. but really my car is certified pre-owned until 2018....anything goes wrong its on warranty. i don't see the point in wasting money on the dealers high prices.

if any of my NC people hee recommend a shop please let me know. Gonna shop around onthe web.

Do it all yourself - not that hard. I just did the cabin filter today in 10 minutes, despite the bad design to get to it.

I might take it in to have the brake fluid done if I was feeling really lazy. Any adult male who can't change the air filter on their car should just feel shame.

Check the DIY folders for all the services that are req'd and see how many you could knock off yourself, you might shave 50% or more off that total, and get to know your car a little better along the way

30K service - Dealer or Independent?

I just got my brake fluid service, cabin air filter replaced (I bought a Napa gold filter myself) and differential service (bought fluid myself) and got it done for 142.00 at a shop near me with great reviews, air filter wasn't needed yet, spent 48.00 at Napa for the parts so pretty much around 200 for almost a complete 30k service without the oil change that I have already done recently as well!
