I've been using Mobil 1 for years, never had an oil related issue.. I guess if you wanted to spend more than the only other choice would be the Nissan ester based oil but at double the cost I'm not really sure if it's really worth it.

I also use 5w-30 Mobile 1. Our Acura MDX has close to 200,000 on original motor and idle so quiet I have to check if its running still.

Nissan makes their own Esther oil that's 5w-30. Personally, I run Mobil 1 0w-40. No issues in 15K miles, car runs great.

I just purchased a used 2008 G37S with 67K miles. I also have a Honda S2000 that I use Castrol 10/30 synthetic titanium. Would it be safe to change over to this oil at this mileage? And, what interval would you change it at? Infiniti says the oil should be changed every 3750.

I bought my car used and have since been using Quaker State Ultimate Durability Full Synthetic 5W-30 for oil changes. Its around $5 cheaper that 5 quarts of Mobil 1 ($21 for QS vs $26 for Mobil1 @ Walmart).

I have had no issues on any of my cars, past or present, using this QS UD oil. My last car, a Toyota Matrix, had almost 100K when I traded it in for the G. Never had any problems and got excellent gas mileage compared to other cars of the same year and model.

Just purchased an '08 Sport, 6MT. I was also wondering what oil I should use. I have already purchased 2 K&N oil filter's and based upon all of the post's that I've seen, they are fine. I have been using Castrol oil for year's and currently use the synthetic Edge in my Honda S2000. That's what I'm going to use in the G.

Depending on if you plan on long change intervals I would say any synthetic oil would be fine at manufacturer recommended 3750 miles.

I use Amsoil 5W-30 100% synthetic. Any SM oil will work, just a matter of preference I guess.

After reading the current 10-15 pages of this thread I have decided to go 5-30 Pennzoil Ultra for my 2011 G37x and factory Nissan/Infiniti Filter.

What would be a good OCI for this?

Thanks,
Drew

After using it for the last two years, Pennzoil Ultra has disappeared from store shelves all over the Phoenix area. Not sure why, used to buy it at Walmart. They don't carry it now and I just bought some at Autozone 3 weeks ago for the G37 oil change and then went back to buy more for my wife's car and now they say they don't carry it anymore.

I emailed back and forth with Pennzoil and their local distributor and they don't have a clue who sells Ultra in this area. I have checked all the typical auto parts stores and other retailers with no luck. If anyone in this area knows where I can buy Ultra I'd appreciate it.

I don't think they make ultra anymore. Some people have stocked up on it, but I'm just gonna go from ultra to platinum. I'm sure it won't be that big of a deal.

Sure they do. Walmart has crazy good deals on both Ultra and Platinum, coupled with a rebate program. I bought a couple 5-qt jugs of Platinum last month, and there was plenty of Ultra on the shelves. At least, around here it wasn't an issue.

Last time I went to redneckmart, they didn't have any. Asked someone in that section and they said they weren't carrying it anymore.

You may be right though, some Walmart employees aren't the sharpest knife in the drawer.
