definitely agree, its a mess

i'm trying to hoard as much of the original ultra as i can for now, but i only have 10qts left

 

i am currently using the new pennzoil ultra platinum (black bottle) with an OEM filter at 5000 mile intervals

i drive my car alot...2011 g37 journey coupe with 22k miles...i've put about 4500 miles on it in the past month and a half and it sees about 3000 miles a month regularly

my work requires a lot of driving and stop-n-go

should i reduce my intervals or is 5000 good?

 

Is anyone familiar with Fuchs Titan Supersyn D1 5W-30 Synthetic oil?

 

Purchased this and changed the oil in my x5 over the weekend. Started by looking for German Castrol and stumbled on this at Amazon. Around $40 delivered to my door on subscription every four months (6 quart case).

Dude that's formulated for diesel engines. It'll work, but I wouldnt recommend it. I'd love to see a UOA after you drain it.

so when i bought my car the dealer thre in the elite maint package. so my car has been getting dino oil for the last 2 yrs and 27,000 miles. Does anyone know when its too late to switch to synthetic? my prepaid maint is until 4 yr or 50000. I feel bad this program deprives my car of synthetic so the vq37 can fully live to its potential.

Just bought a 08 g37s with 44k miles. Is it okay if i run synthetic oil now? No idea what the previous owner used bought it from an auction.

 

It's fine to use synthetic oil at any time.

 

wow that's crazy how many people use Nissan ester. Why not get redline which is fully synthetic.

Just did an oil change with Mobil 1 0w40. Smoooooth. Car never sounded so nice at idle or the redline. I think I'll be sticking with this one.

 

Anyone use the high mileage version of Pennzoil e.g. Pennzoil Platinum Pennzoil Platinum High Mileage? Any reason to go that route / not go that route?

I use Mobile 1 synthetic and change it out every 4-4500 miles max. I know I could let it go for more but I choose not to and always try to keep it fresh.
