Mobil 1 is a good oil. It was the first mass market synthetic back in the day. I used it for 25 years and still do in some vehicles.
Problem is, except for one formulation, the stuff you get in the states is not truely a synthetic, but highly refined 'dino'. It is a quirk of US law that allows them to call it synthetic.

This is incorrect. Nissan "ester" oil is NOT ester based. It is a basic group 3 with ester additives in it. If Nissan "ester" oil was ester based and was a full synthetic, Id gladly pay 9 bucks a quart for it. But its not.

Nissan "ester" oil will shear to a 20 weight oil within 3000 miles of use whereas Redline wont shear at all and maintain its viscosity because its a group 4 based oil.

Idk for sure but when I built my race motor I had to use regular oil intill the motor broke in on my wrx !!! Sythentic oil is to thin they saw. Our 3.7 motor is safer will regular oil they say. Someone prove this wrong and again this is TGE dealership who said this. I have to bring my car for oil changes to keep my warranty abd they refuse to out synthetic

Checked around a bit, Royal Purple seems to be a true synthetic (group IV base). My personal choice for high end engines, however is Red Line.

I can understand why the dealer would require 'dyno' oil for the first oil change, but after that the moving parts would have mated & I don't know of any manufacturer that recommends non-synthetic oil for the rest of the vehicles life.

Avoid the 3 dealers you called. They can't void your warranty if you use synthetic oil unless it can be proven that the oil caused a problem.

There is a lot of information here on different oils for G37 engine. I tried to find how Valvoline SynPower does in our engine. Went to BITOG and found for other makes...

Anybody has a insight on how Valvoline Synthetic does compared to PP/PU and Amsoil? Mobil1 is out for me since it is average for our engines.

Thanks

Which will hold up longer between oil changes, Mobil 1 EP or Pennzoil Platinum/Ultra? From the UOA's I've seen, M1 EP can last 12k+ mi and PP/PU can last around 8k mi.

I just read the section in the owner's manual, and I still don't have a definitive answer. What type of oil is supposed to be used? Conventional? Synthetic? Ester based?.....What the hell????....LOL

Im so confused about which oil to use, I just changed my oil yesterday and used Royal Purple and it seems I made a mistake lol looks like the Nissan oil is the best. Can you buy it somewhere or do can you only get it from the dealer?
