2012 galley gasket

Hello everyone,
I wanted to know if it seems safe to buy a 2012 g37x in regards to the oil galley gasket. I know they were changed with the 2012 models going forward but I read on a thread that it is safer to go with 2013 and newer. What do you guys think? I know it could happen to any year, but I want to know thoughts on a 2012 and how I should feel about it. Thank you!

I have a late production 2012. Haven't worried about it, if it happens, it happens, I guess? Afaik it's quite rare. Seems more frequent because people are loud about it (for good reason).
Know that there have been a few MY2013 failures, unknown if it was an old gasket or new style.

If what your targeting is a 2012+ non-Sport G37x Sedan, then broaden your search to the 2014 and 2015 Q40. Exact same car.

The gaskets were revised in 2012, so it's a belief that most 2012+ models will be fine.

For the 2013's that I have seen experience the failure through the forums, it seems those cars were heavily neglected by the previous owners, and the engines were full of sludge buildup. Try to find a low-mileage example if you are set on a 2012, and make sure you take care of it. Change the oil with a good quality oil at an interval you're comfortable with (I go full synthetic every 5000 miles), and if you really want peace of mind, install an oil pressure gauge inside the car so you can constantly keep an eye on oil pressure in case the gasket does fail for any reason.

Or, take Rochester's advice, get a 14-15 Q40, and never worry about it. I have a '13 and it rarely crosses my mind. I did purchase an oil pressure tester just to keep an eye on things periodically, and after 92,000 miles, my car has perfect oil pressure.

Wait, you are telling me I can't get a "Q40S" badge?

Well, you can badge any car anything you want. But there was no Sport Package available on the Q40, appearance or otherwise.

Same for the mostly forgotten G25.

2010 Infiniti M Gallery Gasket

Hi, I have a 2010 M35x with 100,000 miles. Apparently it needs a new gallery gasket. Infiniti want $4000 for a replacement. I have asked 3 smaller garages if they are interested with no help. For some reason they don't want to touch it. Would an oil stop leak or any of those products help?

Thanks in Advance!

nothing short of replacing the gasket will work.
