Hello, I’ve been looking everywhere to see who else ran into this problem and I can’t find anything. I bought this 2012 g37 coupe from someone. 2 weeks after the amber key was intermittent consistently though. To find out the previous owner had already done the fuse method. And even tho he “disabled” it. I couldn’t start the car when ever that key light was on even tho the steering wheel wasn’t locked.
I read that it’s mostly the electronic steering column lock (ESCL). Called Infiniti and gave them my vin and they told me they don’t sell it separate for my car. I would have to buy the whole steering column... so I bought an after market one from auto zone saying it “fits my car”
Only to find out that there’s no ESCL to be found?! There’s literally no box with two shear off bolts and an electric connection to it. I looked below and read somewhere on here that it could be on top. So I took the steering wheel off and the cluster and still nothing!
I also seen someone solve their amber key light problem by replacing there body control module (BCM). So since I don’t have a ECSL maybe that’s the only solution being the BCM right?
Can anyone confirm that I’m not crazy and some Infiniti’s don’t come with a ESCL? I’ll post some pictures below so you can see what I mean.
