Interesting article... I would be very surprised if they released the next G37 in 2012 and even more surprised if it took form anything similar to the above thumbnail.

Well, its been rumored to come out 3rd quarter of 2012, probably as the 2013 year model.

"The Infiniti G will be revealed in 2012 which is a pretty strange decision considering the G37 has just received a small facelift."

The drawing in the thumbnail I take with a grain of salt as well. Having said that, that isn't the first time I've seen 2012 claimed as a possible date for the next generation of car, either as a 2012 model or as a late 2012 debut for a 2013 model. So that I'd take as a more plausable rumor if nothing else.

Those drawings always make a future model look super aggressive and the real thing never comes out that way....but I do like most of the styling elements portrayed in the drawing. And I would love them to come back with the burnt orange calipers that were on the manual transmission G35 coupes.

New Infiniti G revealed 'in-house' - Autocar.co.uk

Looks like it will be a 2012 model. However, I still stand by my words that I don't think it'll look like that sketch.

I guess I'll have to start watching for the Infiniti pipeline.

Actually, it might be true if they are going to follow the production cycle. Every model of the G runs for a 5 year cycle. It even has a longer history of the 5 year production cycle if you look at Japan (the skylines).

It is very possible that they release a new 2013 model G in 2012.

JohnEnglish, what sketch are you referring to? I don't see a sketch anywhere in that article. *shrug*

I would think with a slumping economy, although not sure about in Japan, that they are more likely to run this generation longer, especially if it is selling. That being said, if a new model is now less than 2 years away, would you buy a current brand new G, or fight the urge and try to see what's in the near future. Obivously there will always be something newer and usually better, but 2 years isn't that long.
