I personally think it's one of the better looking cars out there. Assuming you know the history and getting it at a good price how can you not really. It's almost an evolution from the G.
Like I said before, as long as he likes it. To me, most Audi products are quite boring and they are not exciting to drive. I don't like cars over styled (current trend in new cars, think modern BMW) but prefer a balance.
But hey, I owned two 06 GTOs in my life. Most people didn't care for how they looked (neither did I) but I loved everything else about it.
The replacement for my G may come sooner than I thought, I may buy a 2016 Audi S5 from a family member (for really cheap). Only 44k miles, it mostly sits these days. My only concern with a german car like that is really the reliability, but from my research it seems like the B8.5's are fairly reliable. Also, 440hp with basic mods and a tune sounds fun.
The car in question:
Thoughts? kind of makes sense to me
Dude, do it!! no question, that's awesome! Those 4.2 V8's are angry little monsters
My hand is being forced, we are expecting our third child around August 2023... I'm likely going to be getting a 3rd row SUV.
Right now I'm thinking Durango, Suburban or Nissan Armada. The Infiniti JX35 / QX60 would be an option but that's what my wife has so I don't want two of the same cars.
So I am making an edit to this... I just realised that a larger sedan that can facilitate 3 car seats could be an option
Anyone else thinking what I'm thinking?? Dodge Charger RT or SRT?
DSG auto, glad to hear that you haven't had any issues with yours, that's reassuring lol
I have my S2000 for the manual fix, so any daily I get would most likely be an auto.
I say this as a die hard manual guy......The DSG used by Audi/VW is awesome. It's the first 'automatic' transmission I've ever driven that I can happily live with.
You'll probably want better paddles though. Make sure to get ones that use a set screw instead of just 2 sided tape
Way, way back in 2009, I test drove the VW CC, and that car had a dual-clutch transmission, which was very new tech and kind of amazing to find it in a 4dr family car. Anyway, it made a huge impression on me, because the transmission was a joy to drive, even though there were only two pedals.
My vote would be for the Durango. We've had two Durango's in the past 5 - 6 years and they have been by far the most trouble free and practical vehicles that we have owned. The first was a Redline Red Durango R/T and the second is a White Knuckle SRT. They both make you feel like you are driving a muscle car and handle surprisingly well. Funny enough, my wife actually preferred the R/T over the SRT because she said it handled better and felt lighter, probably due to being RWD vs. AWD.
Clearly you're not in the green neighborhood in CA....👍👍👍👍
Started collecting all my stock parts in one place.... this is just my attic lol, there are even more all over the house.
Seeing this picture reminds me of when I sold my G and got all of the parts out of the attic for the new owner, but multiply those parts by about 10. I had no idea I had accumulated so many parts over the years. They were supposed to bring a minivan to haul them all, but instead only brought an Accord and were just barely able to fit all the parts in both cars.
I would also advise you to snap up that S5. Great cars with nice fit and finish, good tuneability, and if I remember correctly- a decent stereo.
Yeah, I'm gonna do it. Plan right now is to swap all the parts back to stock and sell the mods, I should get the most $$ back that way. The car itself at this point is probably not worth more than 5K I would imagine. 2007 with 155,000 miles now.
I have even more parts than pictured, still digging them all up. the really unfortunate thing is that I sold my stock seats only a month ago, i'm sure selling my sport seats by themselves would be much better.... oh well.
KBB shows trade in value of $3200 and private sale of around $5400. That's just sad lol
