427lb-ft. of torque at the wheels???

It is not an iron block like the old Supra, but it is a closed deck design so it should be able to handle some decent tuning. Too bad it looks so ugly from just about every angle, except the back. Maybe it looks better in person.
I saw that too. Shouldn't really be a surprise, BMW, is notorious for underrating their horsepower and torque numbers. Seems pretty common among the German manufacturers.
Yeah I saw that on Carbuzz the other day: https://carbuzz.com/news/the-toyota-...habit-from-bmw

That's another article that car & driver released about 1 month ago. That vehicle dyno'd 339WHP.
I was told by someone last Thursday that they put the Supra on 2 different dynos here in the Dallas area and made 397whp on one dyno and 40xwhp on another dyno.
I don't know the altitude of the city that C&D does their dyno testing but here in the Dallas area we are close to sea level
A 2018 Mustang GT with 10AT traps 113mph in a 1/4 mile. The 2020 supra is also said to trap 113mph.
The Mustang is rated at 460 @ crank and dynos ~400whp.
The Mustang weighs ~3,750lbs whereas the supra is ~3,350lbs

Just the other day I got the new issue of Car & Driver and they had a test of the Supra. The performance numbers were surprisingly good, especially the handling without super sticky tires. Even more impressive was that Car & Driver's next article compared the Camaro SS 1LE and the Mustang GT PPL2 and the Supra smokes both of them to 60, beats the Mustang in the 1/4 mile and ties the Camaro. It also runs very similar skidpad and braking numbers on not nearly as sticky or as wide a tire. All this while getting significantly better mileage, being lighter, and probably having tons of tuning potential.
Even more impressively, the Supra also looks better than the newly improved Shelby GT350 that is also in the issue. The Supra is faster to 60, ties in the 1/4 mile, stops quicker, and runs almost the same in the skidpad on much narrower and less sticky tires. This new Supra is going to be for real after all. Who would pay an extra $10k for the GT350 and be slower with less tuning potential? Not me.
Now if I could just get over the front end of the Supra and the A/T. I am sure some tuning company will offer a better looking front bumper in time and you can always get better looking rims. I think it actually looks pretty aggressive from the back end, but man that front end of the Supra is just ugly.
Maybe Toyota will eventually offer the car with a manual. Or maybe the Supra will prompt Nissan to finally bring out a new Z car and Mazda to bring back some sort of RX-7 replacement. Either way, I hope this car signals the start of a new generation of sports cars that can outperform Mustangs and Camaros. Are you listening Subaru??

I think when everyone heard the power figures they (myself included) wrote the MK V off. I figured BMW would under rate the power a little bit but good God...if the Supra is pumping out almost 100HP and TQ over the stated figures then color me interested.
I agree completely. And Nissan is going to react with "Well, we can push the GTR out for another 5 years at double the price!"

Sadly, we will probably see a new GT-R before we see a new Z. They are the same age, but the GT-R has seen much more significant upgrades over the years compared to the Z so it seems like the Z is a lot older. I wonder if the restructuring in Nissan after Carlos Ghosn was let go and talks of merging with FCA are going to delay these cars even more. I certainly hope not.

I see far more X5Ms and Cayenne Turbos and G63 MBs than I see the equivalent brands sports cars. I guess you can have your cake and eat it too, if you don't mind a 5000+ pound SUV.
My kids was watching some Netflix movie with Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston, and at the end of the movie was a crazy race scene between a Ferrari Testerosa and a Alfa Romeo Guilia police car. I assumed it was a Quadrifoglio pitted against the old Ferrari, but it's all make believe anyway.
Anyway, long story short... I couldn't understand all the interior shots with the manual transmission.
Turns out Alfa offers the 6MT in Europe. But not here, not in this market of lazy American drivers.

The looks are growing on me. The back looks great, it's the front that makes you want to stay friends and not enter into a relationship with it. I could deal with it though. I've heard rumors that a 6MT will be bolted to it after the initial release.

Nissan sells 3500-4500 370Zs a year based on a quick google search. Everyone wants SUVs and CUVs. I wouldn't be surprised if Nissan drops it altogether.

It looked very strange, but then they did a rendering with it lowered and it at least looked a lot more like a car. What I cannot figure out is how they got rid of so much ground clearance while eliminating only a fraction of the wheel gap. Optical illusion?
