A used 2018 Mustang GT with the 10 speed auto transmission really has my attention at the moment. Bone stock they dyno ~420whp. Full bolt ons, tune, E85 they're capable of nearly 500whp.
Twin turbo kits for these 2015+ mustangs costs just as much as a supercharger/turbo setup for our G37s and puts the Mustang in 700+WHP territory. Meanwhile for the same price for the G37 we are usually 450whp on average. Some Gs/Zs as much as 500-550whp..
A bottom of the barrel base model 2018 GT is going for about $28k atm. I think I'd settle for a premium model in the next few years.

I feel very similar towards the mustang, used to have a V6 '10, wanted a 5.0 6MT before I got my G37. Definitely worth it as an overall fun car but I did notice (on Assetto Corsa w/ forcefeedback wheel + VR) that it "felt" too heavy to drive. Did not feel very nimble. Still think it looks and performs amazingly but that's been on my mind since.

The 10 speed auto ran a 12.1 in a 1/4 mile whereas the 6 speed manual ran a 12.6.
10 speed auto does 0-60 and 0-100 in 3.9s and 8.7s
6 speed manual does it in 4.4s and 9.7s.
The auto also traps higher @118mph than the 6 speed manual which is 115mph.
I was reading a article of a 2018 Mustang GT 10-speed auto compared to a 2018 Mustang GT 6 speed.

Just turned 7K on the R after almost a year (and finally broke down about a month ago and went piggyback Stage 1). I'm 4 years away from a second car, and I'm almost certain it will be a Mustang GT or Bullitt and the Golf will be regulated to 'beater' duty.
Three times over the last like 15 years, I got it into my head to consider a Mustang GT, and got it out of my system with a test drive. Each time the power was awesome, but the overall car felt crude.
Anyway, go test drive it. There's no gun to your head that you buy a car that you test drive.
Yep.
I've got 3 cars in my next car list, and one of them is the Bullet, assuming it doesn't turn around and appreciate. I don't think it will after 3 or 4 years, but IDK really. I swear to god, there's real potential that I buy a Bullet someday and grow to dislike it because Mustang. LOL

Honestly, Lego, that's what I was thinking when putting myself in your position, going from a modified 6MT G37 Sedan to a hot hatch. So far so good, though, huh?
But as a daily driver, the Golf is a better car. Cup holders actually work for a cup of coffee at 6:30 in the morning, adaptive cruise, rear seat HVAC for the kiddos when we're sitting in carpool, CarPlay to text the wife when we're commuting home and planning the evenings logistics and to project Waze......plus, the car launches like a monster and stage 1 (around 35 more hp/tq) pulls really hard. And I also somehow manage to get 7 mpg better with no real change in driving habbits
The Golf was about securing a 6MT for the foreseeable and moving the pieces around to get a toy car in 4-5 years. I tell myself I made a logical decision on what is an emotional subject.
So far, so good. I miss my 6MT G though, don't get me wrong. I even ponder a 370Z instead of that Mustang. The shifter and steering in my old G was second to none, and I wish the R felt like that every day.

If I'd have bought my G instead of leasing it, then buying out the lease, I might have played this differently, but I didn't.
