Honestly I didn't give enough effort to remove the old residue. It was about 40° when I was changing the wheels the other week. I would try some goo gone or brake cleaner. It messes with my OCD as well I was just in a time crunch this time.
As far as the brakes I'm glad they inspire you. If you go the custom powder coat route I think you'll be satisfied with the results. I enjoy that it give it just a little different touch. It has me debating doing the same to my S14 after the new year.
A car's brake calipers are designed to work with that specific model. Under no circumstances can they be used on a vehicle different from the one they were designed for.
Stopped reading right there. Sounds like the UK Health and Safety folks got to them. Otherwise, that article is an ad.
Reads a lot like Ferrari... Without the copyright on colours. Sure, painting over bleeder valves and adding too much paint into the pad cavity, stopping the pad from moving freely can be a problem if not done correctly, but come on.... Lol.

Agreed, I've swapped Z32 brakes on to 5+ S14's, with no issues all of which were repainted and rebuilt. Matter of fact they are easier to service than the standard brakes. Also I'm debating on doing the Z32 brake swap to my D21 Hardbody just for the looks.
As for the S14 I'd like to upgrade to a larger front caliper/rotor. Maybe 350Z Brembos or R32 GTR.
Agree that it reads like a high level white paper that a corporate marketing group produced based on feedback with the product line.
I normally discard these because I see the underlying goal which is normally to sell more of X, and/or establish thought leadership.
With this one, I couldn't figure out why they spun this one as it seems to be a cautionary tale at best. Every manufacture likely uses a similar process to paint their performance brake calipers.
Researching this topic will send you down the rabbit hole faster than posts on bobistheoilguy asking which oil is the best.
Did an oil change on Sunday. I was a couple days over my preset limit but had to find the time. Had to show off my Z1 fanboying...in all honesty the thread in funnel is a game changer. No more holding a funnel and the oil, just drop the quart and open the next one. Well worth the $15 or so. Also went with the Z1 magnetic oil drain plug because "hey, why not?"
This also gave me a chance to see the work that my TBW undertray has been doing for a few years. A little rough but I'm sure glad I have it in place for protection.
Z1 merch
This funnel was awesome and makes life so easy.
Z1 drain plug and Nissan oversized filter.
TBW undertray taking the hits.
How do you like the Eneos oil? I saw it on Z1 before, but never tired it. When I went to Japan I saw a few Eneos gas stations.

This is my first time using Eneos, only a couple hundred miles driven since the oil change so hard to form an opinion so far, but nothing negative to say yet. I'll report back if the experience is negative.
Drove in to work before sunrise on Friday. I heard a loud noise but didn't see anything. Turns out I hit (or was hit by) a rather large rock.
That'll leave a mark...
oh no. Were you behind a rock hauler? I fear those trucks. That a pretty bad scratch. You can try to repair with Dr. Colorchip as my car is the same color and I’ve used it on the front fascia. Looks ok if you take your time.
I was behind a utility truck, they had just turned onto the highway so I assume the rock was thrown out of the tires when they got up to speed. I have a paint pen that I will try touch up the paint with, It's a nice size scratch so I'm not too hopeful for the results.

Tell me you have deep insecurities without telling me.
Give me the time and I'll convince you why installing Brembo's would be a bad idea, how installing a steering wheel cover can kill you and how under no circumstance can you use the cell phone at the gas station

Oh totally; I'm a hot mess LOL.
One of the first things I did with my wife's car when we started dating (95 Saturn) was remove the steering wheel cover, which would actually rotate on the wheel unless you gripped the snot out of it. So yeah...
And for the cell phone at the gas station... I saw that Mythbusters. I ain't skeered.

I didn't mean you Mike😂
I meant whoever wrote that article for Brembo.
Over hyping a brake caliper with semantics simply because they've built a name behind it. It's also a way to tell everyone "we told you not to paint your ****"
