I got it used so I used a buffer to compound and polish to get it back to new. Now I just make sure I clean them after every wash.

Update on my cupholder project, it took a few revisions but I finally got a perfect fit.

I made 2 versions, one with 1 big 1 small (perfect fit for a water bottle or soda can), and one with two large cup openings

Thats awesome. Wish you'd design something for the lame 6MT cupholders.

I think that might be in the cards.

iCrap, if you're not interested in selling these and putting that wear and tear on your printer - put the design on shapeways and you'd get a slice of the license fee when someone bought one (and they deal with printing and shipping and the cart etc)

^ That's a good idea, although I have two printers now so I would probably be able to crank them out pretty quick. I will look into how Shapeways works though.

Does the 6MT have a removable insert like the AT? If so, one of you MT guys could send me it and I could make a model from that. I unfortunately don't know anyone with a manual G.
The other thing I'm not sure about is if they changed the insert shape in the 2010+ center console refresh. I'm looking at photos and google and it looks the same to me, but you never know.

Edit, well shapeways is out. They only do SLA / pro level printing which would be absurdly expensive for this

No insert. I think what I'd have to do is disassemble the center console, and even then... not sure.

I only took the center console down a couple of times (once for the STS, and once for the leather boot).

Darn, shapeways got *expensive*. I bought a tilt-shift adapter for my wife's SLR a few years back and it was about $20 all in.

Yeah, its really expensive. But this is also a pretty big part too. Either way, too expensive. I'll have to just print them.

iCrap, the 6MT cupholder area is more like lame storage cubby than an actual cupholder. It's a rectangular area with 90° corners and a removable divider panel in the middle. The AT cupholder has side-by-side cups perpendicular to the center console, whereas the 6MT cupholder is front-to-back, parallel to the center console. It's a horrible design.

And I lost the little divider years ago , so mine is even more useless than normal.

Yeah, I was looking at photos on google. What a stupid design. I could design a similar insert though to hold the drinks better and stop them from flopping around, just need to have one on hand to work from.
