Wrapped up my little project today (literally ), which is a mesh grille that is OEM fit-and-finish. Used 3M 1080 vinyl, which folks here may know has an orange peel finish, so I might go get it painted at some point. I have an ongoing post in the Exterior form about the aftermarket "CMOD" grille, but I'm so happy how this turned out, that I'll probably soon make its own thread so I can elaborate on how it was made and promote the shop that did most of the work (Matt at Customcargrills).
is this because the Motrodyne manifold is from a VQ35HR engine?...if so do you have any close up picutres or can you point out exactly where the catchcan connects to the PCV system?...curious b/c I wanted to run a catchcan for my HR engine but all the DIY's etc that I have seen are for the 2 can using VQ37VHR which as you pointed out has quite a different setup...
Don't know if it's for a VQ35HR or not, the part number seems to be 370Z and G37 specific. They just run it with a little hose that connects the two PCV lines to the back of the manifold. But anyways, I have the two OEM PCV lines that normally return back to the manifold, tee into a line that goes to the catch can, and then that is returned to the back of the manifold. I know from a few other builds that some people return the catch can to one of the air intakes and remove the little resonator since its more or less useless. Pretty sure they just cap off the two nipples on the front of the manifold and do more or less the same thing I did, with the exception of where its returned.

I do have all of the photos, I suppose I could write something up once some free time comes up. Its a little mod specific with the manifold being a requirement, but I'm sure it could help some people out.
An engine cover? I know of VQ Vortex. They do amazing steering wheels and engine covers for our cars. If you're referring to the little carbon bit in my photo, that's not part of the cover. It's a stock cover that was cut out to make room for the bolts holding the new intake manifold. The CF bit is part of the mounting hardware I wrapped in CF.

I know the breather kits usually have an adapter for the valve cover too. Necessary, or could you just hollow out a dead PCV valve and use that as a hose connector?

Breathers create an open system from a closed one, don't they? I've read mixed things about doing a PCV delete or breather kit. Dunno, could be outdated info at this point.

I mean crankcase ventilation, generally. The difference between PCV and (open air) breather is just where crankcase vapor goes...
So to better rephrase: the connections to the valve covers: are those not special fittings? Or would it be better to take PCV valves and remove the check ball and use those as the crankcase connections?
Esentially what you're trying to do is insert a can into the original routing of the PCV.
The reson it's set up like this from factory is due to space.
Essentially as long as there is a vacuum source and check valves you can pull ventilation from anywhere in the VC. You switch to 1 PCV, move the can elsewhere etc.
I also recommend the way Hexotic ran his. It's one of the best in a cost effective manner and aesthetically one also.
Oh, I see what you mean now. I'm not sure honestly. I didn't even get close to the PCV valves. I just used the OEM lines that go from them to the front of the manifold. Will eventually need to go there I guess. I want to convert everything to AN lines and fittings.
