Did those intakes not come with any shields? The ones you made look really similar to the ones my Injen intakes came with (they look great btw). I still feel like my car heatsoaks pretty badly so I'm curious if you notice a difference.
So these intakes came from 2Gornot2G. They're for a g35 HR, so the heat shields were there, but not quite a perfect fit. Had to be chopped a bit to be installed. Even the g37 version of these have shields, but those as well are very minimal. So far, seems like much less heat soak. Been driving hard all day and had no issues.
Yours look like they seal up a lot better, plus the gasket on the top fell off of mine a long time ago. Where did you get that gasket material for the top? Did you use an OBDII reader to check the intake temps before / after?

I had the opportunity this past weekend to install my test pipes. I bought them from Circuit Werks. They are marketed as anti-reversion. They are non-resonated. I bought these for $140 shipped off Ebay. I have a tune session on August 18th and wanted to upgrade as much of the exhaust as I can. These are paired with Motordyne xyz pipe and Topspeed-like exhaust, (I bought the car with the exhaust and unsure what the brand is. Its about 2.375" inner diameter).
Having driven this setup for about a week now, the volume of the exhaust isn't too loud, even on cold start. It has a deep tone, however has a hiss during heavy acceleration, but not on decel. There is no rasp or drone. You can hear the exhaust from inside the cabin but just enough and having a conversation is very easy.
Circuit Werks 'Anti-Reversion' Test pipes. Its came with all gaskets and and just the 6 bolts/nuts to connect to the headers. I had to resuse my hardware at the y-pipe end. Side by side comparison of the test pipes vs the OEM cats. test pipes installed on the car. Fitment was good. I had to adjust my y-pipe connection a couple of times to keep it from hitting my transmission crossmember. I currently have it where it doesn't touch it but it is low enough that i scrap on it over speed bump.
The O2 extensions / anti-fouler were used to keep from getting the CEL.
While I waited for it to drain I also inspected for paint chips in preparation for compounding and a full detail before winter.
Found quite a few in odd places...
1. The corners of the trunk, not by the lights (like the TSB specifies) but at the bend, were starting to rust. I extended the bumpstops till the trunk can just barely close without slamming it. Hopefully this prevents it in the future.

The section is an anti-reversion chamber. its hollow on the inside. 1320 is the other company that makes the exact pipe also but a little more expensive. Price was the main criteria. I was planning to find a set of used Berk test pipes or something but with the Ebay coupon, I actually scooped these up for $120. I plan to swap them out for ART pipes in the future though.
