Bear that looks dope! The paint, wheels, and vinyl wrap work perfectly together. Totally changes the car.

1960s Classic Plate from California DMV on My G37

The painful part was waiting 6 months for the residents at the Gray Bar Hotel in Folsom, CA to make it for me.

The Black plate with Yellow letters has a personalized message reads N2AGCAR because I'm "In to a G Car...."

Appearance looks nice with the Graphite Shadow paint.

For what it's worth, I think the red would go much better with your setup!

I would say so. I went with the gen 2, because I didn't want to worry about rain and water getting in the filters. It's probably not a big deal, but I just didn't want to even think about it. As far as performance, yes the gen 3 is the best.

Had the day off so I decided to knock a few things off the checklist.
Installed a grounding kit using the 8g subwoofer wire from my old audio system setup. Also painted my headlight shrouds gloss black then restored the lenses.

After paint & before restoration

After

Great job. What brand of clear coat did you use for the headlights? I need to restore one of my headlights too

Appreciate it Swen! I used Turtle Wax Headlight Lens Restorer. Had some pretty decent reviews online and was only $9 at Oreilly's.

Dynamat + Insulation for the whole back area, rear shelf and the bottom. Pic shows progress no the complete job. Less rattling, less noise from outside and my sound system sounds way better now. Also did my trunk. Didnt take me a day to do but still.

That's not a permanent restoration right? I have used some other headlight restoration before on another car but that only last so long and then you have to polish it again to keep it clear

You're better off doing it with this method other than the off the shelf kits.

Sanded it down with 400 grit sandpaper, then 800, then 1200. I probably could have stopped at 800. Each time I sanded in a different direction so I could see when I had completely removed the previous grits scratches. Once it was leveled with the sandpaper I used Dupicolor automotive acrylic enamel clear coat. I tried Rustoleum painter's touch 2X but it left bubbles so I had to strip it off and redo it. The clear coat fills in the scratches from the sandpaper and leaves a UV resistant layer to prevent yellowing. After it cured for 48 hours I wet sanded with 2000 grit sandpaper to remove the orange peel distortion and then removed the scratches with meguiars compound and a DA polisher. Those final steps were surprisingly fast. The result is a glass clear headlight lens that will not yellow.
