Groaning Noise at Max Turn

Today I hit a big bump in a shopping center. I am not sure if its related but I just found that when I turn the wheel max left or right the power steering pump normally makes a higher pitched sound over relief. Now it is more of a grinding sound. Is it possible I lost power steering fluid? Is there a spot to check this? Is this a symptom or do others experience this on their G37 as well?

Thanks,
Jason

Open your power steering fluid reservoir and check the fluid level. Also check if there are lots of air bubbles in the PS reservoir when the car is running.

the reservoir looks good. I do have the CPO. I wonder if that would cover it? This grinding noise just appeared today which is odd.

I had a problem on my old car(non infiniti) but the PS resivoir was bubbling. It was due to the O-Ring being loose allowing Air to come in causing "air bubbles" and the annoying sound when turning.

But if your PS isn't bubbling , than idk. Did you hurt the axle?

This is when I clock wheel full turn in either direction. I get more of a grinding sound when pump is going over relief. I've never heard it in this manner before. So it occurs when you are not moving - or if you are trying to get into tight spaces maneuvering at max turn. Normally I've heard the pump groan but not grind like this. I will check if I see bubbles today in the reservoir. Infiniti says to bring it in and its covered if pump, if its a fluid flush then I pay for it. Maybe safe to bring it in, but nearest dealer is 1 hr away :-(

I haven't done anything yet with it...it was making a different sound than normal, but that was only when over relief. I am under Infiniti CPO plan so if it gets worse I will take it in later. If you take it to the dealer let me know what the find, I suspect it might be normal..but definitely sounds odd.

I have the same thing happening and plan on getting it checked soon (just need to find time to bring it in but I loathe going to the dealer). PS fluid level is fine.

Checked under my hood while the car was running and noticed my power steering fluid was bubbling so looks like I have air in the line. Yay.

Find an OEM O-ring and thay should tighten the seal and stop the noise. It worked for my old car. Costed around 4$ and its for sure a DIY. Well for the Honda it was haha
