Having trouble with HID fogs

I decided to tackle my HID fog install today and got everything out. connected the ballast and bulb to test and NOTHING. Flipped the connector around and NOTHING, spliced in a 9006 connector and NOTHING, flipped 9006 connector around and NOTHING. Ballasts/Bulbs work when connected to test bench. I've read that this should be plug and play but its looking like I might need a relay harness? Can someone please confirm? Stock H8 halogens work when plugged in to either connector.

Using Morimoto 5Five ballasts and have an array of test D2S Bulbs. Yes I'm using D2S bulbs in my fogs. Tried 35w ballast from my old Audi and nothing either!

Did you turn the fog light switch on??? Need to break out the multi meter and test to see if U got 12-14 volts coming from the plug.

I'm just going to order a relay harness. Stock bulbs work fine and I do not like how thin the wires are for the OEM fogs to put HIDs on them anyway. I'll update this if the relay harness fixes it.

you will need a relay harness, but that may not fix the problem...
this happened on my Lexus IS.. turns out i had a bad alternator and in turn a bad battery which was not supplying enough volts for the HIDs to come on.
Halogens will come on with less volts.. they just wont be on at full brightness....

HIDs ignite fine when connected straight to battery with headlights on. Battery was replaced 2 months ago as well

Figured it out. H8 connector wasn't making contact with ballast power. Made my own conversion harness and we're all good.
