This morning I found myself repeatedly catching up to a Challenger Hellcat as he sprinted from stoplight to stoplight. Nobody was challenging him (no pun), he was doing that all one his own, just wailing on the car. It was hunter green, with grey racing stripes, green halos in the headlights, all kinds of aero all around, and these incredibly wide tires. And I think that was all stock, but IDK.
OMG the noise and speed that thing makes is ridiculous. I don't think there's any way to drive a Hellcat that doesn't make you an ahole to all the other cars on the road.
Wow, just wow.
This morning I also had a run in with a fast car. A 911 Turbo came to a dead stop on a main roadway about 200 yards ahead of me, activated launch control and took off like a bat from hell. It was a beautiful thing to see!
I almost got rear ended this morning while slowing down for a nasty expansion joint. The woman behind me could not be bothered to keep good following distance. Bet I made her spill her coffee. Everyone's in a hurry to get somewhere... Who cares if it screws up the alignment or balance.
Some years ago on my way to a Z/G meet, got pulled over at 7 in the morning because the cop thought I was drunk. Was all over the place in my lane because road was in terrible shape - miles long slalom course. Let me go without incident.
Speaking of capitalism, ordered my new furnace today - all on credit. One credit source is equal payments for 24 months, other is some percentage of principal for 12 months at 0% apr. The latter gets me a gran off if I spend over $6K. Hard to pass up either deal.
What gets me down about the season is the whole Christmas marketing machine. It's omnipresent (even without broadcast TV and it's commercials) but dude... everywhere. For everything. Do people really need a new bigscreen TV every year, like pairs of socks? Dunno. When I was working on an MBA to keep the GI Bill flowing, my Marketing final paper discussed how marketing as a concept was the root of much of the world's suffering. Fully supported by psych research and properly cited. Got an F. Appealed to the dean, got an A-. Still stand by my synthesis of other's analyses LOL.
Makes me glad I chose engineering. Im in a similar place regarding marketing. Little of it is helpful and most just obfuscates the fact from the crap

Methinks the auto is just amplifying the tendencies that are already there
Someone left a note on my windshield to ask if I was selling my OEM wheels (I’ve got coupe 19s mounted now, the sport 18s/duck toes are in storage).
Considered it, but it’s just nice to have a spare set of wheels on hand (eg, spare set for winter tires if I ever need them, or to take of the 19s to get them refinished). And I’m sure the OEM 18s wouldn’t command much anyways
Sidenote, finally going to replace my original brakes, ideally before a road trip up to NY. Went with Z1 sport replacement rotors, nothing fancy. I’ve had the traction control dash light come on randomly at times, hoping a brake fluid replacement remedies it. And going to have my steering whine checked out again (my mechanic insists on not replacing anything, he sees limited risk to steering pump failure). Also going to have my front turn signal bulbs replaced, dang LED switchbacks burn out every few years.
My car has been working pretty great, after 9.5 yrs of ownership and 45000 miles. But all these little issues add up to me feeling like I drive the Millennium Falcon…

Alright, I've been thinking of selling my current Rays and getting some new Rays. They are both Nismo's, one classic, one new. Which one would you go with? LMGT4's are 18's and the LM-RS1's are 19's. Which do you think I should go with?

Let's see a profile shot of your car. Picking wheels without context is hard.
And is this the finish you're looking to have... gloss black?

Plenty of pics of my car in my build thread. Not your style if you recall... and also not finished so looks kinda bad (rear fenders). I would go with the exact finish of pictures if I went with either.
Off topic, but there is a new hood coming out for the Sedan.

saw that on FB, looks way better than the windowed one i think
Strong disagree there, but I wouldn't mind this one because the windowed version adds weight not takes away. I'm tempted to sell my windowed one and get this for that reason alone, despite preferring the windowed looks. Ideally I would have had this same style hood but without the window. Either way it's nice to see another hood enter the game since I felt like our hood options were lacking a year ago.

Is it really that much different? It's plexiglass right? Can't be that heavy
Are the NACA / GT-R scoops molded in or are they actual GT-R scoops (which pop in)?
If they're molded in, you need to correct the bump around the scoops. They should be flat to the hood except for the opening. The edge/lip destroys any airflow scoop advantages.
OTOH, if someone wanted to make a hood with rear side extractor vents and a wide (like, 20" x 4") vent behind the radiator, that would be both nifty and useful.
