I have a mirror on the floor of the garage. A black glass mirror, natch. LOL.

I’m not going to NOT buy one when the time comes regardless of available colors. I’d like to see some reviews first - hate to find out it whistles or thrums at speed.

I want one because my OEM tray was damaged six or seven years ago when the car was pulled up on a flatbed (after my CSC blew out.) I stitched it together with some heavy duty zip ties. Every few years I have to re-stitch it. So replacing it with something nice has always been on my radar, but never so high on the list as to actually happen.

Oh, well that makes sense. I forgot you have a mirrored garage floor. Who doesn't?

Excitement building. Z1 slotted rotors and Z1 long tube intakes. This weekend will be a fun wrenching time

Well this sucks. Got an email response from Z1 today, after asking about their aluminum undershroud:

"Unfortunately we do not offer this service and do not have any plans currently for these to be produced in black at this time."

Which brings me full-circle back to the TBW tray. (sigh)

I was seriously considering duracoat's dura-blue when I was intending to keep the duckfeet.

I think you're using the royal "we", because I'm disinclined to be painting this thing.

I'm referring to the forum as a whole. Honestly, car people generally. Modifications are not necessarily just for performance, and sometimes we (collectively) chase our tails forever for one tiny change.

Uh huh. Did you ever follow my blank plate project in the engine bay? We chased our tail forever on that one, and we think we went too far maybe.

Honestly, it's the process that's more fun than the result. If I get nothing out of it but the experience and learning I did, I'm happy. I spent several days developing and building the custom heatshields/airboxes for my K&N intakes. The result was an average of 1.5°C drop in intake temps. worth the effort? hell no, but was it fun? hell yes!

Yeah I like the engineering aspect as much as enjoying the finished product.

I take that back, that was middle age talking. Going fast around a corner passing faster cars, see them shrinking in your mirrors and hear the lamentations of their womenturbos - that is what is best in life.

Wait what were we talking about?

OK - serious question. So the Z1 intake is two hard tubes with the MAF mounting blocks, the cone filters, and silicone J couplers? do the silicone Js squish through the firewall opening, or do you have to open those up?

I've got silicone Z1 maf-tb hoses, and aluminum slightly larger honeycombed maf tubes. I'd like to just get their cone filters and the j-tubes, but I don't see that as an option on their page. Other than piece by piece, any source for those?

There's a metal piece that goes from the j tube to the filter as well.

You have an option to squeeze them through, but they recommend trimming the core support for max gains.

I don't think they sell too many of those components separately. Although they do have the bigger velocity stacks for this intake. They're really good with communication usually. I'm sure if you ask, they can sell individual parts.
