I agree on both opinions. The "fins" are unappealing, and the OEM chin is too fat in the corners... although it's the better of the two.

The only front lip I actually like is that Carbon Signal Spec IN. Understated and unique, although expensive and impractical considering my driveway.

I'm not a fan of knockoff parts and this cs lip is an exact knockoff of the access evolution lip but I'm curious as to how much they charge for the carbon fiber version since pricing isn't listed on their website? At least the one chinkychoy was looking at is original and not knockoff.

Does anyone know what size lug nuts we need for our cars? Is it 12x1.5?

I'll admit I'm a hypocrite when it comes to "knockoff" parts.

If a company develops some proprietary technology or innovation, then I'd avoid using the replica.

But if the product is fairly simple and does not require a high level of R&D or similar to make, and that product is not competitively priced, then let the free market do its thing.

Sounds like you shelled out the $$$ for the "real" front lip, so I don't blame you for feeling that way, but I wouldn't hesitate to get one from CS for that reason.

The G sedan has a remarkably limited set of options for front lips and rear diffusers. Wish there was another company that would produce subtle but unique designs for our cars. Even Elantras and Sonatas have tons of options on eBay, what the heck!

I think we all are to a certain extent. I will hand to CS though for moving along and making a bunch of other items for our cars and the Z's. Access Evolution should have gotten a patent for their design but that's also why was asking if anyone knew how much cs charged for their carbon fiber verion of the AE lip?

I heard but can't confirm that it is right around the same price once you include shipping and they can get it to you in a much quicker time frame than AE?

Yes I agree with you that we have very limited options for our cars. I'm taking my front lip to get repaired here locally and I'm going to see if this guy can make something similar for us. He claims he can make many things in CF so let's see what he can do. Example: I asked him if he could make or wrap my plastic radiator shroud and he text back saying no problem and quoted me a ridiculous price. Compared to Carbon Fiber Element it is a fraction of the cost and I don't have to ship my parts clear across the country.

You know the whole debate here over "authentic" vs knockoffs. Been here since I joined in 2012. I had a debate with a bunch of forum members over the whole rebadging the Infiniti to the Nissan Skyline. I still won't do it especially since our Japanese counter parts are turning their Skylines to G37's.

My take is this...by all means make a similar item but make some changes to it so that it doesn't copy the authentic one to a T.

Very good conversation we have going on here. i agree with all the points already discussed. Its funny because even the OEM sports lip has a rep which is being sold on eBay for less than half the price. i will not argue the fact that AE makes some great products and if i could afford their kits i would be all over it, but because of their price and how difficult it is to obtain their parts (shipping from overseas) its a huge turn off.

To answer your question Zoster the CS Spec IN lip in CF i was quoted about 600$ it actually might be more with shipping. Tony and Drew should be able to answer that question because i believe they have it. I was thinking about that lip but my heart couldnt take it if that lip was damaged and i paid 600$ for it.

Not sure if you're aware, but apparently the AE lip "borrows" its design from INGS (N-Spec lip for 370z)

But I do agree that if a company has the means to produce something like a custom body part, why not use that ability to your advantage and make something original?

I doubt the demand for a front lip/aero kit for our cars is as specific as "AE or bust", but rather, lots of folks desire something that's subtle but adds some aggression to the sport bumper.

Just so happens that AE fits the bill, and the only other company that produces similar body parts chose to copy it. At least it does offer another (unique) solution.

I think everyone has a rep for something wether it be Import or Domestic. Wish we could get someone here to make these things at a reasonable price so we don't have to be at the mercy of these overseas manufacturers. Like I said, let me see what this local cf guy says when I meet up with him this week. I'll keep you guys posted.

I saw a $550 price, I believe, but it said to inquire about the pricing for cf version of it. Just curious.

Was not aware of that, thanks for the heads up.

You see how quickly everyone made body kits for the Lexus RC?

Wish there were more options for us and wish we could get it here in the States to help out our economy instead of someone else's.

No prob.

We do have a member on here (VT) that is trying to start-up a body parts business. I believe he already has the equipment, but needed to take care of the paperwork, etc to get the operation up and running. Also believe he's a family man with a day job, so patience is key.

But would be great (and very cool) if one of our own was able to produce quality parts based on enthusiasts' input.

"by the people, for the people" Honest Abe would be proud lol

As we're discussing original parts, I have a buddy working on an ARC oil cap group buy. The goal was to get 100 people but ARC is now indicating they're looking for a minimum order of 500. Anyone interested?
