I have already made a deposit on the wheels I want, and will be buying Stoptech slotted rotors and Hawk HPS pads on Tuesday and was mainly throwing the idea around about changing up the calipers too. I still really like the Stoptechs but it's not worth it to me since I don't track my G. I have coil overs on order as well, so my first plan of attack is suspension. The wheels won't go on until spring, but coil overs, slotted rotors, HPS pads, stainless steel lines (brand suggestions?), brake fluid (brand suggestions?), Hotchkiss sways, and cusco strut bar will be going on in the next month or so.
I have a similar setup.

I have Stoptech slotted rotors and SS brakelines with Hawk HPS pads. Check out this site for the Stoptech rotors and packages.

Have you been pretty satisfied with this setup over the oem setup?

If you're buying from Adam and have found it cheaper he'll price match for you. Usually shipped. Great team over there at RCA!

I'm hoping to do the brake swap within the next couple of weeks. I wont be doing it myself, I'll take it to a brake shop. I don't trust my mechanic enough to do it since he broke a stud and wont return my texts/calls. I wasn't too impressed with his installation with my exhaust. I just need to find a reputable place here to do the job.
If you want to bring a pile stuff down here I can set you up with my guys. You're welcome to crash here while it's being worked on. Would make adjustments tough I suppose

The thing about typical slotted rotors that gives me pause is the directional nature of those slots. One side of the car sweeps forward, and the other sweeps backwards. Matched that up either way with wheels that have directional spokes (mine) and it could look goofy. Unless the manufacturer made left-side/right-side rotors, which some do.

With that in mind, these are pretty interesting:

The DBAs are pretty nice. Not knowing what direction I would go in the future with wheels was part of the reason I went with them. Getting a great deal was definitely part as well.

For the most part yes, especially with the pads and the rotors. As for the brakelines, a little indifferent there. Could have stayed stock but overall still happy.

I'm pretty sure the rotors are directional, but I'll need to make sure now that you bring that up.

Last year a buddy of mine installed slotted & drilled rotors on his old 535i, and after he got the car back from the mechanic, he had this cold WTF realization that one side of the car had a pattern that swept forward. He was pretty p1ssed off, but mostly because he only had himself to blame for that one.

Truth is, the only reason I'm sensitive to that consideration is because of my Vossens. Not sure I would have thought of it either.

Yes, they are directional. Stoptech has different part numbers for the right and left.

I have a buddy in the wheel restoration business, he is going to fix some curb rash on one of my duckfeet. I was thinking, while he's at it to have them all painting dark graphite. I have a 2011 Black Obsidian G37S. I'd like some opinions on that color combination or if you know anyone that has that done. I've searched the forum and haven't seen it. Also, I haven't see a whole lot of BO Gs with darker wheels. Also, anyone have experience with the painting process holding up? I'm just looking for making what I have look better. Thanks in advance.

These are the wheels I'm buying, they're a dark graphite, just to give you an idea on color combo. Here's one in the shade and one in the sun.

I wholeheartedly approve of you getting 20" Vossen VFS-2 rims in a gun-metal finish.

It's going to be a class act. A b1tch to clean & wax, but worth the effort. And I actually prefer the half-deep inner lip on the VFS2 over the redonkulously deep inner lip on the CVT. Beautiful wheels, man.
