2014 Sedan
Fun fact, for the first time since the G sedans released in 03, the JX outsold it for a few months as the most popular Infiniti model.
That new JX is a popular ride so im not shocked the sales figures jumped like they did. THe lease deals are also insane. You can lease a G for the same price as a Camry.

And I don't think the lease deals really say how successful a car is. BMW and MB are def offering great lease deals to move the amount of cars they are, ESPECIALLY the E-Class and 5 Series. It still boggles my mind how they manage to move 4-5k+ of those cars per month! No matter how nice the Q50 is, the G37 is still a good buy and still a strong competitor in its class. Infiniti did a great job on the car and they have kept it interesting by adding models over the years. I have no doubt that the Q50 will be the same way and will take the sales back up to or beyond the 71k+ units they moved in 2007 or 2008.
True. Black and white numbers are objective, but interpretation of what they mean is somewhat subjective. The JX introduction is a key factor in the overall sales increases without question. However if you look at the numbers for each model, it's impossible not to see that the G sedan sales are still leading the pack for the brand decisively. Infiniti is selling more G sedans than before which means that somewhere people are buying G sedans instead of something else. When the Q50 hits the market we'll see if it attracts more new buyers than it loses current owners who hate it. I predict that the handful of guys on this forum bemoaning how terrible the Q50 is and that they will switch to something else when their lease ends is going to be completely insignificant compared to the number of new buyers who will jump into the Q instead of comparable offerings from MB, Audi, BMW, Lexus, etc. Only time will tell. A year from now sales numbers will be the determining factor if the car is a hit or the haters are right. It won't be right for everyone and that's fine, people have to buy what they need or like. But more people in general will like it more than the G sedan. That's my prediction.
^^^ BMW? They made their 3 bigger and softer, more like a luxury car ride without luxury content. They are making more efforts in pleasing Chinese customers who demand BMW badged Lexus', and they had it, the new 3. Infiniti's recent move more or less re-aligning their products along the same line. Yeah, they will sell more bloated Q by attracting more 40+ increasingly overweight American population. Heck, wish I was wrong.

We're just forced to cough up more money to get something good these days. Similarly, I'm guessing/hoping Infiniti will offer nice Q50/Q60 IPL models one day, but they'll make you pay for the privilege like the others do...
I had a 2013 Camry for five days as a rental. It's a decent everyday car for everyday driving. Good mileage. Gets you from A to B. Nice interior room, very decent torque off the line, and everything. Then when I got home and hopped inside my G37s, oh nevermind about the Camry! When you want to really drive and feel the road, the Camry can't compete with the G37 when it comes to a fun driving experience and a better sense of luxury.
I just thought I'd throw that out.

I think what volnedan meant was that the MT driving experience is different, and some people prefer it. It's not so much a matter of control, but a matter of being more engaged. And, no, manually up and down shifting an automatic or DSG/DCT doesn't give you the same experience.
Plain and simple a manual is just more fun to drive even if it is a little slower now compared to the newer autos. I love the 6spd in my Altima, although it sucks compared to the better manuals out there. it's just FUN! Lol
For some people the manual is a big deal, I'm one of those people. I was set on purchasing the Q50 until I saw the no manual option, looking into different options now. I know they aren't as fast as these new autos, but driving isn't all about straight line speed..

I'm not a fan of big cars but I don't see the 3 series as a big car. I haven't checked the dimensions but I'd be surprised if it was any bigger than the G has been all these years. I think the current G is a great middle size that affords flexibility. And in terms of it being "soft". I've driven a few samples and I don't get it. Our cars are not exactly sports cars. They blend good steering and decent power in a car you can drive every day. Same for the new 335. Softer than previous versions - agreed. Still not bad for the type of car it is. Blame the greenies for forcing the manufacturers to find ways to bump up their efficiency. Lets wait and see what Infiniti's steering feels like (which was one of my favorite parts of the G).
Exterior Measurements:
Q50 188.3*71.8*56.8
G37 187.9*69.8*57.2
F30 182.5*71.3*56.3
E90 178.2*71.5*55.9
Size-wise:
Q50>G37>F30>E90
The trend:
F30 larger than E90 -> softer, worst handling/chassis dynamic in exchange of larger back seat and trunk.
Q50 larger than G37 -> ? and why? I don't see many complaints that the G37 being too small. It's actually fairly large in class. I'm 6 feet and have plenty of headroom with the sunroof, the design priority doesn't seem to make the car more sporty.

It's relative to its predecessor.

My bad I mis-spoke ( or rather mis-type) If you were as discerning as you are condescending, you might have known I meant no torque converter but apparently that's giving you too much credit.
