I was about to say the same thing, you beat me to that. Even I was not impressed with the exterior/interior changes of the Q50 over G37, I would take Q50 and G37 over F30 any day of the week.

Someone post that awesome inspiration quote over at the BMW forums. That will shut them up. Also post a copy of a build sheet for both the current maxed out g and 3 series. That will really fired them up.

Bunch of uninformed idjiots in the thread.

The thing is, I'll bet, if one takes a side view of all of the cars manufactured sinced 2010 and lines the up on a page, a large percentage of them will look the same except for the rims.

That those posters think the G..err Q is derived from the Altima, means they are not car enthusiasts who would understand the different platforms, only snobby BMW owners.

My guess is they know Infiniti hit a home run with the Q inside and out, and may feel as BMW owners, Infiniti is encroaching on their hallowed turf. Not that I wouldn't like to drive an m3 or m6 mind you.

The bimmer crowd...never fails to disappoint, there pretensiousness and snobery are legendary. As far as the M series, it has to be respected, and I'm sure most of us will say the M3 is top on our list of cars we will acquire at some point. The poor quality of personalities in that crowd can't turn me off to the car itself. Now just to be fair, we have a few elitist in our midst as well

BMW indeed does have more snob appeal. That said, IMO....the new Q is more attractive and has a much better designed interior. I had lunch with a friend yesterday who was driving a new 328xi. Nice car, but even in a basic iteration, its over $45,000...and that does not include NAV or a sound system upgrade. If Infiniti maintains its price point, it should steal some market share from BMW.

The ev imo will be scrapped. Nothign official but from some info from top down with Yohan coming in he is not concerned with this vehicle. From the info I received from a dealer group meeting a few days ago I would put money on the fact that there will be no EV.

Did I mention a 600hp FX is in the works

It's more for daily commute (17 miles one way on local) and my gas bill is about $300 a month including weekend.

If I leased a Leaf instead of M37, the lease cost plus electricity would break even with the gas bill I have to pay which is actually pretty nice.

Hey BB, i was surprised about this too and it was coming from the car magazines -car and bmwdriver and the like. they have written things like "cons - outdated and thrashy engine. "cabin and shifter vibrate at high rpms

i am very excited about the q50. it looks fantastic and the 3.7 has been tested and true throughout the g37 offering which adds to reliablility.

18 miles one way on local. One tank a week. Driving the ford focus one tank every two weeks.

The cabin and shifter (6MT) vibrate even at low RPMs such as at idle.

However, the Q50/Q60 might be better than the G37 at suppressing the NVH coming from the engine - time will tell...

When looking at the competition the Q50 will be a winner depending if it can be priced accordingly.

When looking at performance the base Q50 vs every other make wins every time. fuel economy should also be better.

The technology is amazing, from the dual touch screens to around view monitor to safety shield , Infiniti Intouch system. And steer by wire. And it's all customizable to fit your driving needs.

You guys are complaining about no 6MT, the paddle shifter is more efficient and precise than a manual transmission.

You guys wanted more power and better fuel economy. Well Infiniti provided a direct response hybrid system, 354hp and instant 199lb ft torque at any rpm. Up to 269lb ft.
Expect 27 mpg in city and 33 highway that's literally miles above the G37.
Expect 0-60 in the high 4 second range

The Q50 is better than the G in everyway and it is also better than the competition in everyway

To hear people say they will choose a stripper S5 over a fully loaded Q50 before they get a chance to gain more info about the Q50 is foolish. Lets not make haste judgements before actually getting to test the car out.

It doesn't have anything to do with shifting more precise. It has to do with being one with the car. With giving you more of a connection and more of a sporty feel. One of my cop friends asked me one day, "do you know what the main problem with driving is?" of course I gave in to see what his response was,he said, "its too easy, anyone can do it." and I feel like that could be said about driving an automatic. With a 6mt its not about trying to shift faster than an automatic, its about being more in tune with the car.

Yes, even a dog can drive if you define getting a car moving as driving. It is not easy to be a COMPETENT driver, I see accidents almost everyday that largely caused by driver's stupidity. It is just too easy for anyone to get a driver's licence in this country, even illegals.

I feel the same way as My'09. I let my wife talk me into an automatic and I've regretted it about every day since. I's not that I have a big problem with the 7AT, it's that I really miss shifting for myself.
