So why did you pick a sedan over a coupe?
The sedan and coupe are basically the same size. The sedan is about an inch longer and the coupe is about an inch wider. The sedan actually has a lower drag coefficient and the coupe has extra reinforcement to increase its rigidity which makes it a bit heavier by a few pounds.

For me, it is a respect thing giving a person their own door through which to enter and exit the vehicle. When I was a boy, perhaps sitting in the boot of a station wagon was "clever." Adulthood certainly has it's costs...and it would seem far more amenable to the "opt out plan." ;-)
so when I pull into pre-race inspection at the dragstrip, I have kids' seats to blatantly take out of the backseat and put in the trunk. The Mustang, Honda, Chevy, Acura, G/Z coupe guys love seeing that, then my tail lights all the way down the track.
oh and, I really do have 3 kids which was kinda why I went with the sedan...the above is just a bonus.

For me, the Sedan has more versatility and looks like more car. If this was the previous gen, I'd be more inclined to get the coupe (didn't like the previous gen's Sedan), however, I would've probably gotten something altogether different. The coupe is just not big enough a coupe to look right on me. I'm a 6'+ footer, and the coupe does stike me as more feminine (though beautiful, don't get me wrong).
I get it's just my nature. I like big sports coupes. It's the same with the BMW 3 series (which I considered, as well). While I expect the 3 series coupe to be slightly sportier than the sedan, the coupe just looks less car to me. I would get a 3 series sedan over a coupe. Now, if there was a 5 series coupe, I might consider that over a 5 Series sedan.
For me, the coupe's size and stature strike the same vibe in me as the convertable, which just seems more appropriate for a woman.
Also, the last gen G37 Sedan (mine is a 2009 - Slate blue) has beautiful lines, better-looking lines thane the coupe (to me). In fact, one could argue that the short trunk gives it a nice coupe look (think Panamera or CLS 550).
Techinically, there is some variance on the definition of coupe. If door number is the determinant factor you use, then there would be only 2-door coupes. if, however, you subscribe to the definition of coup as a body with no b-pillars (when all windows are open, there is only a single, undivided space, then the CLS 550 could be considered a 4-door coupe. I believe they even advertised it as such). See below:
"Four-door coupé
a sedan with classic coupé-like proportions. The designation was first applied to a low-roof model of the Rover P5 from 1962 until 1973, but was revived as recently as 2004 by the Mercedes-Benz CLS. "
However, that has nothing to do with the G37 sedan. I think the G37 Sedan totally subscribes to the Infiniti design theory and is a striking, unique design...with some excellent GO! Everytime I walk into the garage, she looks better to me. She's still growing on me. I would, however like to lower her stance a little, so she sits more like a 3 series, nice and close to the ground without a lot of airspace between the wheels and fenders.
anyway, that my $ 0.02
BTW - No disrespect to the coupes. I like them both, almost equally
