Technology package?
Do most of you that hear the sound have the technology package (adaptive cruise, adaptive headlights, and pre-crash belts)? Reason I ask is because I was just about to commit to leasing a 2009 G37xS (haven't yet...but was very likely to commit in next 5 days). I wanted the technology package in mine, but they told me there wasn't one available in the country with that configuration, which seemed really amazing to me. Could it be that there is some correlation and that they are trying to discourage the technology package to minimize the problem?
I was a little bummed to read about this because I get aggravated by these types of noises and can get headaches. I am currently nearing the end of my lease on a 2008 Cadillac CTS, and have absolutely no complaints about the CTS. I was considering the G37x because GMAC residuals have turned very sour recently and getting another CTS would cost quite a bit more than the G37.
Thanks for any responses!

High Pitch Noise 09 G37 Coupe
My G37 coupe makes a high pitched noise when I press the accelerator either in neutral or drive. The pitch is at high frequency (~20kHz) and inaudible to some. Most people my age (28) can hear it clearly. The sound is really driving me crazy (pardon the pun) and I am distracted by the sound everytime I press the accelerator. It has even been giving me headaches. This is not how a luxary car should perform. I reported this problem to the Infinity service department last week and am not satisfied with the response I'm getting.
Infinity acknowledges the problem and is working on it but does not have a fix. Guess I'll have to take this one to the top. Hopefully everyone else experienceing this problem will do the same.
PS My car does have the navigation package but not the technology package

High-pitch noise - Indianapolis area?
Does anybody that is consistently able to hear this noise live within 100 miles or so of Indianapolis? I'd be interested in seeing if I can hear this noise before I make my decision to lease a G37 for 36 months. If it really is 10kHz, that would really be annoying and probably be a deal breaker for me. The fact that some claim the noise didn't pop up immediately is what makes me wary...
If you can't find a nearby car to check out, you may want to ask to sit in a loaner G37. Try to find a relatively quiet place on the lot, roll up the windows and turn off the radio/hvac. Then lightly press the gas pedal until engine revs up to 2k. Turn your head slowly left and right to see if you can hear what sounds like a hearing test tone. Repeat.
You should try to do this without someone in the passenger seat, which in my car makes the noise less obvious. If you're sensitive to this stuff I recommend spending a decent amount time trying to hear it - it's an extremely annoying blemish on an otherwise great car.

If I play the stereo at reasonable to low volumes, it's not noticeable at all. I almost always have my stereo on, so these days it's not really bothering me. But I do wish infiniti would get cracking on a fix.

Hi Guys
I have posted here before on this topic but have not checked the forums in some time. I live in Canada and drive a G37 Sport which exhibits the same high pitched electrical noise you guy speak of. It is not present at idle but once the accelerator is depressed and the tachometer goes above about 1000 RPM the noise is evident.
I find it to be very bothersome and have I been back and forth to my local dealer and unlike what others have experienced with their local dealers mine agreed the noise was indeed present and even changed parts trying to find it (alternator). They also told me they noticed the sound on other G37’s on their lot. I cannot fault my local dealer as they did all they could to find and repair the noise. In the end the were unable to locate the cause of the sound so I called the corporate office and asked for an explanation and was told "in writing" that the car / sound are essentially normal (or as they put it operating as designed) and that there is nothing Infiniti can / will do about it. This may be the case in their mind but if its annoying to your customers and other vehicles/models do not have this problem then as far as I am concerned it is a problem that needs to be addressed and soon.
As a result my opinion of the Infiniti brand has been negatively influenced by Infiniti’s lack of interest with regards to customer concerns and as a result I would not recommend this vehicle to anyone and when the time comes for a new car I will look certainly elsewhere.
That being said I do hope that we can in time force Infiniti to address this issue as although its not a safety concern, a car that is of this “class” should not have problems like this.
Letter I received from Infiniti attached for your perusal.
Regards,
FlyBar

I think we need to send a soundclip to the CEO of Nissan/Infiniti so he can hear the noise that his engineers can't seem to fix. BTW...someone on one of the 370Z sites got the dealer to swap the ECU and it fixed his problem...at least for the time being.
I check this thread occasionally to see if anybody has gotten it fixed and it seems as if my problem is unique. I have a high pitched ringing but it's is speed related and not RPM related. I can only hear it when I am moving between about 77 and 81 mph. I've tried to duplicate it when parked or in neutral but it's not there at any engine RPM. Yes, I now that is very specific and very odd, but that's the only time me or any of my passengers hear it. It's not there below that speed or above. Does anybody else have this exact issue?
