Did you get the temp fix yet?
Did you get the temp fix? If so, did it seem to help? I haven't bugged my service department about this yet but I almost went insane from the noise yesterday and am ready for some action.
^^^Not yet - my service department is 90 miles away, and I have to bug them to pick up my car for free, drop off a loaner, fix it, and then do the return in the same fashion. They said they'd be willing to do that for free for 'this one time,' but they have not been quick to call me back, so I need to call them on Monday to get this finalized and set up. So maybe I'll be able to post something next week. Insulation is pretty effective for high-frequency noise, so I'm hoping this will work.
Any updates on this?
I'm now ready to pull the trigger on a G37 sedan and this one has me sitting on the fence. Perhaps they will fix this on the new 2010 models?
I'm not sure I'll notice this on the next and final test drive......

I wonder if that's because about 50% of the owners are old guys like me ( and thus can afford this car) OR because about 50% of the cars actually have this issue. It's just too hard to listen to this stuff at the dealer but I'll try.
It's very annoying
I have a brand new G37x sedan...I hear the noise, my kids hear the noise, my wife doesn't hear it, and of course none of the techs or service manager can hear it either.
Best way to describe it is that it sounds just like the tone you hear when your taking a hearing test at the Dr's.
It starts at about 900 RPMs and stays constant regardless of speed or RPMs. Doesn't seem to be related pressing the gas....it's audible even as I coast to a stop....right up until the RPMs drop below 1,000. Can hear it in park, neutral, reverse, drive so it's not motion related.....and even when all systems (radio, climate control etc) are off....actually that's when it's most notable because nothing is drowning it out. I went so far as to remove the fuses for the whole audio system, screen and speaker fuses, thinking it might be interference coming across the speakers.....still heard it.
It seems to be emanating from the right side of the vehicle but it's really hard to tell.
Other posts here indicate that the noise is coming from the ECU and Infiniti-USA knows about it. Lets hope they can figure it out. If they don't come up with a fix for this, I would strongly recommend not taking delivery of one until you're sure you don't hear it in your specific vehicle.....because once you hear it, you always hear it.
I suspect all the cars have the noise but it's at a frequency/pitch that not everyone can hear.....interestingly, I've had about 9 different kids sit in the car and they all can hear it, whereas I've had about 10 or 11 adults sit in the car and I think only 5 of them hear it.

it sounds like this noise is like what an old tube TV makes. you can hear the high pitched TV frequency even a few rooms away.
half the people aren't gonna hear this because they're deaf in that frequency.
but put a dog near it, and he might go crazy
maybe infiniti is using cheap parts on the motherboard, and it's giving off electrical buzz

High pitched noise
I don't remember the "TV" sound you're referencing but it does sound electrical in nature.
Just opened a file at Infiniti Consumer Affairs
Also, my service manager called the Infiniti Tech Line and just told me that Infiniti has had similar complaints, but the Tech Line Manager was not there and would call him back Monday. I told my Service Manager that I wanted to bring it in again Monday and have everyone in the place sit in it until someone heard, just to get verification of the problem. My manager said he was going to be out on Monday so don't bring it in....so I said who is Infiniti going to talk to when they call back and you're not here. He said...."uh, uh, uh one of my techs"
I said I still want to bring it in Monday and find someone to hear the noice (he already sat in the car and didn't hear it). He (my manager) strongly insisted that I wait until he was back on Tuesday to bring it in because, quote, "this might turn into a sensitive issue with Infiniti".
What the f*&k
Call me cynical but I think Infiniti may be covering up some big problem worth some big recall bucks.

From reading many of your posts, it seems my noise is distinctly different than what most of you have. Mine is only present (at least to my ears) at about 78 to 82 MPH when in 6th gear (MT). No other speed. It is extremely high pitched (over 17.5Khz) so some can't hear it. It does sound a bit like the tube nose from an old CRT TV that was present even with the sound turned all the way down.
I went to my dealer for a service today. I mentioned about this noise issue.
The tech person at my dealer was clearly able to hear that high frequency noise.
His explanation was that this high freq. noise is coming from the air intake. As infinitis do not keep turbos or superchargers, they have to suck the air in. In previous models Infiniti used Aluminium "sucker" (I dont know what to call that). Hence the car was good in preventing that kind of noise. But now as they have replaced it with plastic to reduce more weight and mileage the noise will come.
He said the noise is normal due to the above explained reason. He said that you will find this kind of high frequency noise on every g37. He asked me to drive other g's but I trusted him. Let me know if any other dealer has the same explanation.

I was just told by my Dealer's Service Manager that he called Infiniti-USA Tech and they told him they have other complaints about the noise and that they believe it is emanating from the ECU (the car's computer) and Infiniti is still trying to figure out a way to fix it or "insulate" the noise. He said it could be weeks or even months before they (Infiniti) have a solution.
To be honest, I don't think it's the air intake.....there may be a sound from that too, but this noise sounds electrical in nature and there is a very distinct on/off to it at almost exactly 950 RPMs....no winding down of the noise as RPMs lower and no increase either as RPMs increase.
Sounds to me like they all are just grasping at straws, but I'll tell you one thing, this noise is not (or at least shouldn't be considered) normal. It is extremely annoying and NO-ONE designing a car would find this acceptable. There is no way they would put this car into production with this noise considered normal. It sounds like my ears are ringing......NOT ACCEPTABLE! But what do I do about it? How do I even know if Infiniti is actually looking into it?
One of the problems is that not everyone can hear it......so far every child that has sat in the car has heard it but not every adult.

If my dealer told me this noise is coming from the air intake I would just give them a stare and never return. This is clearly some electronic noise emitting from who knows what. If a faulty air intake is creating this noise, Infiniti needs to get some new engineers
I'm supposed to be taking delivery of a new 2009 sedan in a few weeks. This problem is on my list of things to inspect before taking delivery.
Can anyone tell me if this noise is present from the beginning OR does it develop over time? I plan on having my teenage son listen for it.
