S model is the way to go!

Bigger brakes
Better front bumper
Nicer interior stitches seats
Better handling & suspension

Definitely something to look into.

2009+ 6mt sport model.... whether coupe or sedan.... 2009 gets the 7at transmission and able to use the ecutek program... the 2011+ iirc, gets the bluetooth audio, usb instead of compact flash and correction of rear timing gasket ( i think thats what it is...).

I've read great things and I'm interested in just learning more about what I'm getting into when buying a G37 that I would (possibly) like to lower and put some black rims on because I think that's a decent look.
Hey man, like it was suggested we're just messing with you

You're right, these cars are a solid bang for your buck and the platform is rock solid in terms of reliability (especially in the 2012+ models since Infiniti took care of the timing gasket issue).

As many have said, if you don't need AWD then the RWD is really the way to go. Might as well get the S model for RWD fun and the better aftermarket. I have a 2012 X coupe because I really wanted AWD but it has resulted in fewer options for mods. Plus, no manual in the AWD models.

It really depends on what your needs are and what you want to do with the car.

I 2nd a 2011 plus Sport or IPL model.
The timing cover gasket issues were fixed in that year and following.
The fun factor will far exceed the price difference you'll pay.

I just purchased a 2009 G37x Coupe. Its a great car, I have no issues with it. Just take a look at what you need in life, do you need the 4 doors because you drive a lot of friends and family around? It adds extra space. I wanted the 2 door because I want something more sporty, I'll have a 4 door when I have kids.
Buy what will fit your lifestyle.

Honestly this is probably the way to go OP. Car's all set to go with good mods and you're much more likely to get a car that was well taken care of from a forum member than some random seller or dealer on cars.com.

Besides, Steve's car looks bad ***.

Beautiful car- well done.

About which G-37 to buy, it is a no brainer- get a 6MT. Tremendous fun to drive, very reliable and reasonable to maintain, and your imagination (and budget) is the limit on how far you can mod

I'd definitely say go with a coupe. If you're looking to really personalize the car yourself rather than leaving it stock, I would go with the lowest trim you can find. That way, it'll give you a little more spending money on the aftermarket.
