Of course you’re right. It’s well hidden, but once you know it’s there you can fold the seats down from the inside.

Curious, it wasn't there when I removed the rear seats completely several years ago and after checking again today I found no straps anywhere around the seat backs or inside the seats that performs that function.

It is not the easiest to locate as it's tucked away quite well but the strap is there (on my '08 Coupe at least). Just pull it toward the passenger side and the seat back unlocks and folds down.

As for my car being parked outside, it is simply a compromise with my wife. I give her half the garage for her car, while I use the other half as my workshop.

(Besides that, she's somewhat "parking challenged", so it's not safe to park next to her)

No, you misunderstand; I assumed you greyed the last line of your post in case she did any snooping on your computer...

Urban myth. The way Fobs work is by an RF signal. You cannot send an RF signal across the cell network.

I've heard that but I've done it, more than once...

Regarding the manual key issue, wasn't it determined that heavy dangling keys were what caused ignition failures and deaths on all those GM cars that were recalled? This would have never happened if they had used push button start.

This could never happen. In fact if you were to throw your keys out the window while driving, a light would come on telling you there was no key but the engine would continue to run. You would just be unable to start the car again.
