To driving enthusiasts, its a massive deal. It IS the deal maker or deal BREAKER.

It will have 6MT only if more than 5% of buyers want it. Pure economics, nothing else.

In a curious bit of reverse thinking to whatever Nissan is doing here... Jaguar is introducing a 6MT option to the two V6 versions of their 2016 F-Type.

But on their monsterously top-end Type-R V8, you will be getting an automatic with AWD. Period.

Riddle me that one, Batman.

Well enthusiast here...I want 6MT. I may consider a DCT but i'd have to drive it in order to make that decision. I for damn sure won't be getting one if it is the current 7AT

No, sir. I am a 6MT driver as well. To state that an enthusiast doesn't want or won't drive a car without a manual transmission is absolutely ludicrous. Maybe if you mean that it's a deal breaker for you personally, you're correct. But to state that it's a big deal to all enthusiasts is flat out wrong. More and more high performance cars are not even available with manual transmissions. There are any number of valid reasons for manufacturers to skip manual transmissions altogether in new models, not the least of which is that even when they build them on cars where people beg for them, almost nobody buys them. Many cars with far more "enthusiast" pedigree than our G's (Q's) don't even offer a manual. It's only important as the single biggest deciding factor for a smaller an smaller buyer segment. Good luck finding a new car to drive in 20 years. All the more reason for you to skip the Q60 if it's an auto only car I guess. Get a stick while you still can.

A DCT would be ideal, but if that isn't possible, hopefully they will at least re work the 7AT. Either way, this will be my next car God willing!

He has his moments.

That was convincingly well-written, BB. It's a big tent... even if all the cool kids row their own gears.

I still really enjoy driving my manual. So much so that I convinced my wife to buy her sedan that way even though she'd have much preferred AT. But most of the really good cars I've driven in the last couple of years have great automatics. Enough for me not to **** and moan if I decide on my next car and it's not offered in MT. If it has a good automatic, and they are much better now than the last time I owned a car with one, it won't be the deciding factor. Sticks will only be a novelty or offered on entry level cars and boy racers in the near future. Infiniti just needs to get their AT in line with the better offerings out there.

They could do what Honda does with the Accord. "Special Order it".

That doesn't cost Inifniti anything.

Well, just imagine if the G37 only came with a 6mt. And our reply was, "dafug with the AT fuzz?? Get a Prius".

It's nice to have options. Not sure why people overreact when people want a car with a 6mt. It doesn't affect you in any way!

For the 2 cents this is worth and to be taken with a grain of salt......

"Availability closer to late spring and 6mt."

That is all.

Source?

Cause if true, I would have to extend my lease until late spring. Was hoping for a fall release.
