You should just head to Houston, the dealership next to my house has 5 or 6 300hp models on the lot and they are definitely letting people test drive it.

Although I am not satisfied about the new q60 I have to say I disagree with the criticism about the HP of the new 3.0TT.

First of all this is not something new, BMW has a very similar engine with the same output since 7-8 years. A direct injection twinscroll (Infiniti has advantage here with TT) 3.0 turbo which is used in models ending 35, and let me tell you 335 feels MUCH faster than my g37.

I believe most people here know that HP itself is meaningless, what matters is the torque curve. 300hp may seem low but its max torque starts from 1500RPM which means unlike the 3.7 VQ engine that only gives its peak torque at really high rpms with the new engine you are almost always in the max torque band. Even with the 7at you can not always keep your rpms very close to the max hp rpm therefore 3.0TT will be considerably faster than the outgoing model no doubt!!!

Now the problem is, almost every company uses a similar approach and have turbo v4 and turbo v6 with similar output so infiniti is not standing out in that department...

I wish Q60 was considerably lighter and the entry 2.0 liter turbo came with 275hp or so like most of the 2liter turbos today(wrx, camaro, 310 in 2.3 ecoboost, bmw328 is probably also close but underrated), and than instead of a RS I wish all 3.0TT's came with 370hp.

I don't like RS version since it is just more horsepower with no improvement in handling and too expensive.

same here - learned my lesson.

its going to need Android Auto (because if i can't swap a head unit, i better at least be able to configure it how i like it, features and sound-wise)

i will also have to try the climate control, because i HATE what's in the G37.

Here is another Dyno on the Red Sport Q50 . This one is from Fast Intention's and I post this because someone said that the didn't trust stillens. Well here is another shop with similar results. Now unless they are using the same dyno, the VR engine is showing under rated from factory.

Now it looks like with some Intakes and a tune, 400+ whp is possible.

I agree that the engine is a beast.. just please no run flats on the Q60 RS400. When I test drove the Q50 RS, I felt like I was losing 1/2 second from standing acceleration because I couldnt hook up quick enough. Summer tires and an extra 10 or 20 mms in width FTW

The spec sheet posted earlier shows RWD RS models get conventional summer tires, while AWD RS models get runflat all season tires. SS models get Run flats for both RWD (summer kind) and AWD (A/S). Only the RWD RS gets the staggered set up with wider rears.

So I remember downloading the U.S. Q60 owners manual 3 weeks ago and under the Tires and Wheels section it was still showing 20in wheels with 275 width tires. I just downloaded a new version and the first thing it says is that the info in the Tires and Wheels section has been updated - sure enough, they have taken out the 20in wheels. It just shows 19s across the board with RS having 245/265 set up. There also seems to be a 245 and a 255 option for the front and rear also (guessing SS models get 255s all around). And in the manual they seem to RFs across the board. More confusion....

Wow just look at those numbers creeping upwards with relatively simple mods

I wish someone would post SAE numbers somewhere. All I see are STD which can vary greatly based on location and tend to run high. My old GTO dyno'd 425whp STD and 400whp SAE same day same run.

Im hoping with Down pipes, CBE, Intake, and a 93 octane tune it can hit 450whp. Thats asking for a lot I know but I an dream right? Also I saw a thread where an RS Q50 took an SRT8 300 with bolt ons. Im not to familiar with the STR8s but I was an older Gen.

Seems promising. Now we just need some one to offer transmission services as I still think that needs some work.

It's going to depend on where the restrictions are. If Infiniti left nothing to gain, then you're going to be getting just a bit extra. The 435 and a few of the new model Turbo'd are like that, with the exception of the more expensive ones such as m4 GTR RS, etc.

SRT 300 is a boat and does a 1/4 in like 13.4 and lucky to hit 0-60 in under 5 seconds. Unless you're on spray.

will the transmission be able to handle that in your dream?

i had it out with an SRT8 Charger in my Subaru Legacy (around 290hp) - the Charger could not pull on me, we were neck and neck. sad how their massive heft kills any performance from that giant engine.

I think it will but I also put that I wish someone would work on transmission upgrades. Still done believe that the motors are underrated?

never said i didnt - underrating by 10-20hp ... sure.

underrating by 50-75hp is a missed opportunity and bad marketing (unless you are trying to get over on some regulation, but thats not the case here).
