I would try 303 Products Aerospace protectant on the dash. And you should never use armor all for your dash. Those thing make your dash look extremely greasy/oily/shiny.

Maybe one of the guys who did the navi conversion can help. But removing an entire dash is such a big PITA.

 

To remove the dash board isn't difficult just time consuming you would have to remove the glove box the trim around the dash like the pillars and parts under the dash. You will also have to remove the radio and climate control and gauges and most likely the center console once that is removed you should be able to remove the dash.

 

I don't recall seeing anyone removing their dash on these cars before. The factory service manual, section IP (Instrument Panel) goes through the process. Read through that, it seems fairly involved.

If you're ready to replace it, I would recommend you first try cleaning a small area with a bit of soap and water. Dish soap is acceptable, the goal is to remove any crap Armor All left on your dash. Armor All is crap. You may find the dash is fine, a bit dull, but certainly not "melting." Let it sit in the sun and confirm whether it is melting when there are no other products on the dash.

If you find it it is not melting, apply Aerospace 303 to protect against UV damage (fading, drying) and to leave a moderate sheen.

 

A dash carpet would be the easy solution....

I would try some vinyl cleaner or soap and water to see if you can get some of the sticky off.

So... I was going to remove the dash and install a vinyl wrap to hide my melting dash. But I didn't want to create more problem than as is so I just installed it and this is how it turned out. It still has many bubbles and many edges for touch up but I am really happy with the result.

This was my first time experiencing with wraps and it was fairly easy to use. I just needed to be patient with wraps sticking to each other and blehhhhh.....

 

Not bad at all! Would like to see more. Does your car sit outside during the day? If so, I'd recommend stopping by a tint shop and getting a clear film applied to your windshield. Its perfectly legal and will block a great deal of heat and UV rays. Your interior will thank you. 3m crystalline is a common film. I've been in Dallas during the summer, its brutal.
