2008 G37 and iPhone 5?
I just got the iPhone 5 and am trying to figure out a way to get it to work with my car.. I've looked at a few of the iPhone threads and have come to the conclusion that I have two options:
1) Buy the 30pin->5pin (Lightning) adapter, then use the USB passthrough from one of the various vendors to get power to the iPhone, and then use the cable.
2) Wait for Infiniti to release a new cable that has the 5 Pin style adapter for the new iPhone/iPod.
I'm not even sure if option #1 would work, and I have no clue as to how long Infiniti will take to release a cable.
Any ideas?

I plan on using the adapter from apple with my brand motion adapter that enables charging lol. So I'll have 3 cords in conjunction haha, hopefully it works. I really don't see why it won't. But I'll find out in a few days. I also don't know if Infiniti will even make an updated wire since the newer models just have a USB port and its soley an apple connector.

Infiniti isn't going to realease an updated cable for a connection method they have discontinued. If they didn't release an update for the power pin charging change they won't for the new iPhone connector. Best bet is to try the adapter combination.

im in the same bot and kickingmy self for buying the old style adapter a few months ago an not waiting, only if apple told us ahead of time ! =>
not to sure what to do with my hi-fi theater system also which uses the old connector i use itunes a lot since there loseless audio filse and sounds great on my yamaha and klipsch system
i might end up just buying a cheap ipod for my music only and just use the new iphone 5 as a phone only might be cheaper then buying new adapters for everything
and we cant use bluetooth audio for 2008 g37s i assume ?

Just buy the 30pin to new pin adapter .... I'm sure there will be 3rd party ones out soon if they aren't already.

For your home theater, just get an AppleTV. I can stream music from laptop or any iDevice over reliable Wifi (vs. spotty BT). It works great and if your amp is newer you can control everything from your iDevice wirelessly.

Lol, I've been an Android fan since the beginning. I just wanted to try out this generation of the iPhone.
(I actually am currently taking classes on programming for Android)
This is correct.
I'll have to give this a shot...
I feel like I remember reading somewhere that the adapter was not going to work with car stereos though.

A cable is just a pin-out pass through device unless it has it's own power supply. I don't see how it would know it's connected to a car radio vs. any other type of device.

It's still worth a shot though.

Exactly. I haven't tested the multiple adapters personally, I just don't see why it wouldn't work. You have your normal connector, then you use the apple 30 pin to lightning adapter. I don't see why that wouldn't play audio just fine. It won't charge the phone, but it didn't before, which is why people also have adapters to allow charging like myself. I'm going to get the 8" adapter from apple. It's $39.99, which isn't cheap for an adapter, but $40 isn't all that bad. But then again, I'm the guy that only needs 1 adapter and that's for my car. The phone comes with one wire and ill have to buy another wire as well which is $19.99.

You could always throw the Scosche passPORT Charging Adapter into the mix to get charging. Now you are talking three inline adapters then your phone, no way all that is going to fit into the center console.

I use an adapter like the scosche, but the scosche sucks! Loses connection all the time.
OEM Nissan Connector > Brandmotion Charging Adapter > Apple 30pin-Lightning adapter > iPhone 5
Also I run the oem connector out the back of the center console. When I had the 2 connectors in there it took up the entire console and I had zero storage of the very limited room the G came with. I run the wire through the back and then in between the console and the passenger seat. Can't see it and it works perfectly.
