iPhone 5 with audio, control, display, and charging in 2009 G37 convertible
I haven't read the whole thread, but I tried what Josh said worked for him (in msg #50). It works great in my 2009 convertible with nav and premium packages.
Factory iPod connector -> Cable Jive dockStubz+ charge converter-> Apple 30-pin to lightening adapter (.2M cable) -> iPhone 5
I have audio, data display on the nav screen, charging, and control (just as with an iPod, on screen and steering wheel). I can even use MOG radio on the iPhone with data display on the nav screen.

Hello everyone!
I registered to share my experience with Apple's 30-pin to Lightning Adapters between my iPhone 5S and my 2008 Infiniti EX35. I believe the iPod/iPhone integration system is identical (or nearly identical) between 2008/2009 EX35 models and 2008/2008 G37 models.
In a nutshell, what I discovered was that Apple's two 30-pin to Lightning Adapters (the one with a .2M cable and the one that doesn't have a cable at all) are not only different in appearance, they are different electronically.
In my EX35, I was NOT able to get the Apple adapter with the .2M cable to work consistently. Then I read someone else's success using the smaller Apple adapter (I believe it might have actually been this forum where I read it, but perhaps in a different topic). I purchased the smaller adapter and, BINGO, works like a charm!
I detailed my experiences in a topic on the Nico board in the EX35 forum:
iPhone 5/5S with 2008/2009 Infiniti (EX35, G35, etc) : Infiniti EX35 / EX37 and QX50 Forum
I hope this information helps others trying to tackle this situation in their 2008 or 2009 Infiniti!
Oh, BTW, there are a LOT of aftermarket adapters that LOOK like Apple's adapter. Don't be fooled. Apple built protection into the Lightning connector system. A little chip that must be detected in order for the product to work. Third-party vendors figured out how to reverse engineer this copy protection and the market got flooded with inexpensive imitations. However, starting with iOS7, Apple changed the code for how it looks for that little chip and many (most?) of the third-party 30-pin to Lightning adapters stopped working.
Spend the money for the genuine Apple product if you wish to avoid problems.

All of this is A LOT of Pain in the *** and trouble.
Buy a Blackberry bluetooth gateway for $80
Buy a griffin Jolt for $6.50 that is small and doesnt stick out of the charger & gives you 2 charge spots
I use retractable cables also so that all of this fits in the armrest in a VERY small area. As you can see, I could benefit from redoing my cable management but it is still pretty great.
Now just Bluetooth it. If your on a long journey, plug in the phone!
My phone fits - and stays perfectly in the center of the dash in front of me above the steering wheel - so that I can see the phone Navigation, Waze, Pandora, or whatever.

Just want to share my setup...
1.Griffin iTrip FM+AUX Dual Connect > to Stereo Headphone 3.5mm Plug To Dual RCA Plugs Y Adapter Splitter Cable > Center Console AV jack.
Works great but no steering control or data on my 08 G37 w/ nav.
2.Infiniti Ipod Adapter > CableJiveDockStub> .2 Apple Lightning adapter wired.
Charged but didn't play. Ipod Not connected. Some how it pop on. But not all the time.
3. Infiniti Ipod Adapter > CableJiveDockStub > Apple Lightning adapter(non wired)
Works perfectly. Steering control, charge, and data on Nav. Only problem the cable setup is to short. The console armrest is hard to close. Did anyone use a dock extender cable with my #3 setup? Might get the CableJive dockXtender Premium Dock Extender Cable..

I read every single post in this thread, especially as it pertained to non-wired vs wired lightning adapter. I was against buying the non-wired adapter because I didnt want to have to take my phone out of the case every time I wanted to connect it to the car. I already had a Scoche power adapter from my iPhone 4 days. Took a leap of faith and bought the wired adapter . . guess what . . it worked!
Pandora worked. iPod app worked. And it charged.
In summary, this is my setup:
Infiniti Ipod Adapter > Scoche Power Adapter > .2m Apple Lightning adapter wired.
Very happy with this and worth the $40 for that adapter . .

Guys theirs an apple cable adapter that you connect to the 30pin then to your lightning in the car that will allow you to charge and listen to music
This is what you need , i can charge, play music perfectly
Lightning to 30-pin Adapter (0.2 m) - Apple Store (U.S.)
DO NOT BUY A FAKE EBAY one , this cable has a special encoder which allows you to play music
Enjoy !!!

Nomorecivicsi, I have the same setup as everyone else. Nothing has really changed.
Although since we have brought this back from the dead, I wonder how hard it would be (if it would even be possible) to rewire the system and transplant the USB connection from a newer G into an '08-09?
Does it tie directly into the head unit?
