'08 G37s Headliner Area Noise Finally Fixed

So I've been putting up with this problem for about a year now. After 2 trips to the dealership, they were able to find the problem and fix it. I know some people here have exactly the same problem so I hope this thread can help.

This creak seems to be temperature related - it's worse when it's cold, specially in the morning. Here's what the dealer captured on the invoice:

"Found noise still present. Lowered headliner and loosened all sunroof rail bolts and retightened. Found noise to be gone. Kept vehicle overnight to retest in am when cold. Noise returned. Use stethoscope to narrow noise as best as possible. Found noise to be coming from left front roof area just behind windshield above headliner where two panels are held together with three bolts (no weld). Removed three bolts and added metal bonding adhesive between two panels and reinstalled three bolts. Test drove after repair. Noise gone. Reinstalled all interior pieces and test drove again. Noise not present any longer."

Now my biggest gripe about my G is gone and the whole car feels to be a lot tighter. I'm a happy man now. Big applaud to the Service Manager Steve at Pleasanton Infiniti. He was patient, professional and customer-oriented.

I hope for all you guys out there who have the same problem can use this to help fix it.

the dealer ordered me a whole new rail and also shot expanding foam down the sides of the windsheild pilars. also dyno mated my whole roof cause the rattle would not go away.

Hi qdub172, I also bought mine at Niello Inifiti. The only reason why I didn't go there to get it fixed was because it's a little far from my house. They do seem to have a good CS department and I hope you'll get yours fixed there. If not, I guess you can always try Pleasanton. Good luck!

Is there any way to DIY to fix this? I want to fix this but I don't want to go to the dealer. My dealer never gets anything done right without screwing something else up.

Angry

Just want to update your guys that I spoke too soon. The noise came back after only 2,3 days. It's probably a little better than before but it's still there. Now it sounds like it's coming from above the driver-side window or A pillar area.

I'm so frustrate with this problem and I don't know if I should keep going back to the dealer to get it fixed.

Hey. If your talking about this creak you hear from your sunroof then I have already fixed the problem myself. The sunroof needs to be relubricated every so often to get rid of this "creak". I purchased the Nissan Silicone Lubricant and Nissan Vinyl & Rubber Protectant, and applied it on the sunroof weather strip and along the sides of the sunroof. Heres a pic of the bottles.
