Should I hear a click when shift from 1->2 gear?
Is it normal to hear that click when shifting from 1 to 2 gear? I am not very used to the car's transmission yet but I can hear a metal click when i shift from 1 to 2. It still jerks at a start a bit when I try to drive normally too. I am just not used to it yet.
I hear ya! I come of 335i coupe and If the noisy transmission is the only problem with my G I can live with it.
I guess, it is all a matter of how quickly I will adjust to it. It makes me feel I suck at driving manual.

I here it all the time, pain in the ars.
When I stop at red lights and let go to press the gas I thought it was the rear pads but nope. I throw it in reverse then drive, without pressing the gas and click! clank!

Atleast you can drive. I just bearly learned to drive a manual car recently and the transistion from an old geo metro to the g37 was insane. Hoping I get used to it the more i drive it.

I can sometimes hear a click when I have the windows rolled down. I used to hear a metal ping (like hitting a golf ball with a metal driver) when I shifted from 1 -> 2. There is a TSB (technical service bulletin) on torquing something in the transmission down tighter which resolves the pinging sound.
Just want to clarify if you have a click sound or a ping sound.
