Seems to work now though. PRETTY COOL!

If it ceases to work down the road, I will know where the problem lies.

My wife helped me by holding the console back for a while and after I started to get REALLY impatient she tried the lower plug (and got it on the first try). It took a WHILE to get the upper plug. I was just jabbing a screw driver in hoping to release the clip which eventually worked.

I'll bet I had an hour and a half in, WITH help! Mr fix-it I'm not.
And that is really tight quarters. No spot for a big man.

Good year for the car! Nice spoiler and a great roof trick.

Congrats Shane on Getting it done. With the perfect summer time to show if off,. Am sure, the roof will now get a little more use. I wish those plugs were a little easier to pry off but then again it wasnt meant to be taken off.

I took my car to the dealer yesterday to get my driver seat replaced and of course I turned the module off. Well, guess they didnt know it was there. but again they were not working on the top.

By the way, I was talking to a friend and he thought of an idea of using the European spec ECU for the US cars and perhaps that might still have the windows up functionality. It does seem like an overkill and perhaps void warranty but it seemed like a feasible idea? I wont do it on my ride of course. but perhaps direction that mods4cars can look into and test.

All of sudden we are getting nice HOT weather. About damn time!

I am not worried at all about the windows up thing. Not an issue for me.
I do have to work on changing the programming though. I don't care for the hazard lights flashing with the top motion. Kind of weird.
Also, I thought I had removed the chirping, but I guess not. Have to get rid of that.
Did you lose seat memory? Mine was gone this morning. Have to re-program.

Overall, cool toy!

hey men, replied on your fb with:

Nothing special Eric, I just told them that I had the car for six months and the front seats looks like its been used for 4years. So they told me to bring it in and guess they compared it to the passenger front seats and knew it wasn't wear and tear. If u have the same issue, try ur luck.

I just tried this - had no problem getting it in place - but it didn't work.

The light stayed green instead of blinking once as it says in step 6 - and the roof button wouldn't move it at all. Removed the smarttop and everything went back to normal.

Any ideas?

When I first installed mine it didn't work. I had to pull the seats back out and check the connections. I think all the yanking and pulling I did means the fit is not quite as tight as it was before (and MAN was it tight!). I re-seated the two connectors and it worked perfect.

I've reseated them 4 times now... no dice.

Two other things to note - like you - there was no connector on the side panel to undo. I updated firmware to 1.02.

The last time, I got a beep beep every 5-8 seconds until I removed the smarttop unit. The unit works perfectly again without the smart top, so I don't think it is a seating problem (unless the smarttop connectors aren't made right...).

Any other ideas? I've noticed smarttop doesn't have a customer service phone number, so I left them a tech support request - (they don't have an infiniti forum either on their website...)...

:-(

They usually respond to e-mail pretty quick, but the weekend may be a factor.

I am not sure what else to say since I can only see possibilities:
1) loose connection somewhere
or
2) defective part

Hopefully you get response tomorrow. It really is a cool toy when it's working.

Wanted to close the loop on this one in case any other owners get the same problem:

I contacted Stefan who designed the boards - and took pictures of the board he sent me... This was his reply:

"Hi Daniel,
thanks for the photos.
It is exactly what I thought it might be. The two solder jumpers are missing! Please look at the attached pictures to see what it should look like for it to work on your car.

We're really sorry about this! So now please tell me what you would like to do. You can either find someone who can install the jumpers for you or mail the module back to me and I'll do it for you."

The module is in and working great - although I am a bit disappointed to have to have a friend of mine actually soldering a board I paid for expecting it to work.

Just thought I would throw that out there for anyone else who runs into the same issue... so you don't spend hours trying to figure out what you were doing wrong...

If anyone needs the pictures - let me know. I keep everything. LOL.

That is **** POOR service! He should have offered to courier it to AND from you to fix the defect. Or offered to kick you some money to get it fixed locally.

I must admit that I am disappointed in them and really glad that I didn't have any problems with mine.

Good to hear that you are up and running.

Title changed and I just installed mine. The install went well I think but...............

-No go on the remote functionality with the car off or on. So on and off from the keyfob, gave the tone/beep but no roof movement.
-No functionality with the button with the car off.
-With the car on. using the button for one touch on and off works. So a quick single tap and the roof goes up or down.
-With the car off (and ignition on at the time while I was checking the programming, a double tap brings the rear windows down. Front window was already down) Double tap to close brings the rear windows up.
-Holding the close button on the keyfob (with roof up, all windows up) brought the 4 windows down).

vert manufacture date is 6/09 so, I'm wondering if that could be a problem base on 09's manufactured at a certain date?
