Where to find a good, used manual diff?
Im looking to upgrade my auto FD from a 3.3 ratio to 3.9. However i need a manual transmission differential, preferably one that came from a low mileage car, with VLSD still working nicely.
can anyone help me source a clean one from ebay or anywhere? When i go on ebay they are around 350 to 500. And some of them look like sketchy vendors.
will a manual 370 diff work?

Reading the Z forums, I saw that it was confirmed that the 6MT housing (3.69) will bolt right up to the 7AT (3.35) without any modification but you need the whole pumpkin (Maybe some Flanges need to be swapped). I saw mention in the Z forum that the cross between Z and G doesn't work but I can't confirm as it doesn't go into much detail but I can't see why they wouldn't since it's the same FM platform...
The price you're seeing seems to be the going rate so not sure if you're going to get anything better. Just make sure it's the WHOLE unit and buy from a 99%+ seller.

if you are gutting it to go for bigger gears you are better off getting an aftermarket LSD and forget about a low mileage VLSD as the majority of the labour involved is in changing the gearing... and the aftermarket ones are much better ...finding a higher mileage one for cheaper will also offset the cost of the aftermarket unit...
if you are intent on getting a factory VLSD make sure to check for the "KG" stamp on the body of the Diff as a lot of ebay/salvage yard wreckers have inaccuarate listings...
Okay, did some reading up on this....

Gears will not fit/work with the 7AT housing. You need to get the whole pumpkin. You can get any 09+ VLSD and just swap the 3-bolt flange. Or you can get a direct bolt on unit, like from the 08 5AT G. As Hashim mentioned, look for the KG stamp...

^Should be a direct plug and play bolt on.

Chances are that you're gonna end up in that $500 range so maybe its not worth the trouble but in case you do find a high mileage unit for a lot less, you can get a used VLSD from Z1 for about 150 https://www.z1motorsports.com/rear-d...sd-p-8744.html
I would definitly keep an eye on ebay but I had much better luck with car-part.com and HollanderParts
I get it, the cost on these things escalates so fast, just mentioned it cause the gear change is the bulk of the labour, which is the bulk of the cost on this

Yes, but that year was the only year the auto had 3.69 gears and the 3 bolt flange. Literally, plug and play. 3.90 gears will fit. Take a look through that thread I linked to....tells you everything you want to know.
EDIT: I may not be right about this bulge thing (I'm feeling less confident about my recollection this as I think about it) but also if you use a pumpkin without a VLSD, (say an auto, because the yoke matches), the stub shafts wont be the same...on the VLSD one is shorter
