Timing chain gasket blown, need help with part info
Yea this issue has been blown a little out of proportion but in a way rightfully so due to it being a costly repair that is essentially infiniti's fault. However the chances of this happening are still rather slim. Like BB said, it's very counterproductive worrying about it, but knowing about it helps deal with iT.
So im over this hurdle as well as the csc failure hope that's all of the defects because I really enjoy this car and wouldn't want to change it. I got it at a great price, plus I was sideswiped and had money left over from the insurance after it was fixed and the gaskets and csc ended up costing about 1300$ in total so in the grand scheme of things, I think I'm still ahead and I have the known issues done and over with.
Anyone know of any other major issues like this that I should be aware of? I'm even scared to ask...

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I bought my g used with 77k miles. It's got 86k now.
I had my local infiniti dealer fax me the service records and found this. Does it look like they replaced the internal gaskets too, or do you think they just replaced the gaskets for the outer cover?
Do you think its possible I could get the dealership that did this service to fax or email me an itemized invoice with all the work performed?
thanks!!

Yup you're definitely good, the dealer replaces the entire rear cover which includes the two gaskets that go bad so you won't encounter this problem since you had that done, I'm sure you'll sleep a bit better now
Can anyone share what the lowest miles ever reported for this issue to occur? I have an 09 Sedan 6MT that I just bought with 44k miles. I'm a pessimist so would like to expect worst case scenario.
As little as 18K on some VQ engines. Some that are older and have over 100K have never experienced the issue. There's no predicting if or when it will occur.
Sorry for reviving this thread but I'd like to fact check some things. I ordered the parts from infinitipartsdeal.com and they just recently sent me an email saying that the gallery gaskets (13533-JK21B & 13533-JK21A) and the camshaft oil seals (13042-3HD0A) are not compatible with my car per its VIN number. I have a 2008 Journey coupe. Does anyone know why they would not be compatible? AFAIK all these parts should be good between the 2008-2012 range.
