clutch problems?? on 08 g37s 6mt

Hey everyone!
Im new to these forums as i have recently purchased my g37s 2 months ago!
I'm wondering if the clutches on these cars originally catch high? i have driven many manual cars and this clutch seems to catch higher than most. Is this a problem that the clutch needs to be replaced? Im not slipping in any gears, however it doesn't feel as fast as it should when im accelerating (if that makes any sense) i have 63k miles on it and im pretty sure that it is still on its original clutch. There is also like a very faint grinding noise when im in neutral and the clutch is not engaged. As soon as i depress the pedal all the way, the noise goes away. Could this be the flywheel or pressure plate? I could also be paranoid about this because every slight noise worries me haha. Thanks for your help!

Yes high engagement point is normal and the clutch is normally a complaint for this car. Folks normally do the clutch spring mod which helps a bit. You can find it in the group buy section. Not sure about the grinding noise in neutral. I have not noticed any noise.

I think the grinding noise he's referring to is the marbles in a can like sound when in neutral with vehicle idling. Also normal. Has to do with the throwout bearing IIRC.

My '12 MY also had an annoying whining noise (sounds like a supercharger whine). Some have it some don't. Replacing the MT fluid with redline fluid did reduce the noise somewhat but didn't entirely eliminate it. I'm used to it so don't hear it much any more unless the radio is off (rare).

High and very unrefined clutch pedal engagement is unfortunately normal. So is the noise you mentioned. I recently installed the RJM AFP clutch pedal assembly and it makes all the difference in the world. You can choose your engagement height and it is not abrupt like OEM.

That sounds very tempting! Do you just swap out your whole clutch pedal with this assembly? Or is there a simpler spring type of mod?

Yes it's a replacement pedal assembly that replaces the OEM pedal assembly. Changing the spring doesn't actually fix anything. I had it.
