Gear Ratios

I know Z1 Performance has a final gear in the ratio of 4.08 but is there a way to just alter the first two gear ratios for increased acceleration off the line without altering top end speed? Like a way to change gears 1 and 2 in a 6MT while leaving 3,4,5,6 alone? This may be a stupid question, but someone please enlighten me....Thanks!

Don't worry about top end speed.. its limit wont affect you because you can't even reach the physical limit. Do yourself a favor and avoid z1 performance.. Horrible customer service... THe gear you are changing is not the transmission gears... Again don't worry about top end I am on a 7at and I get to 100 MPH on 4th gear and I have 3 gears to go.. I can easily hit the computer limit thats at 150.. and do you really ever need to go past 120? or even 100 for that matter?

^ very true! And it's the differential gears not the transmission that's changed.

There's no points in changing the gear ratio spread, at least on the street. If you're going to make 1,2 quick than shifting to third would be pointless and you would have to shift again very quickly.

Most people change the differential. The 6mt at least on the vert is near 4 while the auto is mid to low 3s if i remember correctly.

For the 4.08 gears? Use MyNismo.com - Home Page I had 0 problems with them. Now z1 that's a different story they were very unprofessional and they seemed not to give a rats ***

On that site it says G35 and 350Z. No problems for G37? And any install parts I need to get? I'm going to see if my dealer can install it - that way warranty stuff shouldn't be a big deal.
