Tell your dealership to stop fooling you around. It is a requirement to replace the slave whenever the transmission is dropped. IT DOESNT MATTER, whether the slave is bad or not. Whenever you do any kind of clutch work, the slave must be replaced. This is clearly spell out in the factory service manual.

Ask them to explain to you where did all the clutch fluid go all of sudden? Explain to them that all the fluid leaked out once the seal on the slave went out. It is a known problem with all G37s and 370zs.

Clutch maybe slipping

I have 47k miles. It feels like the car is not accelerating fast enough but rpm gauges looks like engine is revving good. So I wonder if clutch is slipping or not?

Drive at 40 mph at 6th gear. Then floor it. If the rpm jumps from 2k to 6k, your clutch is slipping. If not, then your clutch is fine and it's time for forced induction if you want more power.

Clutch test

Thanks I'll try that. How quickly do you think the rpm should go from 2-6k? I'll actually try it now.

I've done the other method of taking off in 3rd - 5th gear and see it if it stall or not few month ago and it stalled, so it was fine then.

If clutch is slipping, then the engine rpm won't be in proportion to the speed increase. In extreme cases, the engine rpm will shoot up, but vehicle speed will not increase, or increase very gradually.

40 mph in 6th gear is something like 1500-2K rpm iirc. Modme, what does flooring it at such low rpm in top gear do? If clutch is working, it will lug the engine, if clutch is slipping, rpms should increase with no/minimal increase in vehicle speed. Interesting test.

Back from testing.
1 - my car stalled from trying to take off on 3rd n 4th gear.

2 - floored it on 6th gear at 40 mph to and from gas station few times (so w empty n full tank) and my rpm never got up to 3k goin as fast as 60 mph, it took awhile to up there both rpm n car speed.
So I'm guessing my clutch is fine. Maybe my car just can't go 0-60 as fast as I can think 0-60. Or maybe I'm looking for excuse to get lighter flywheel n performance clutch or FI. Hahaha

Yeah, clutch is fine. If the clutch was slipping, your rpm will shoot up like if you rev in neutral.

Brought my 6MT into the dealer today for some warranty work and I mentioned a noise I heard in the transmission. Service lady calls me a few hours later telling me theyre ordering a new transmission and made me aware that the clutch could possibly be bad, which I doubt because everything seemed fine before I brought it in, but I'm going to check more thoroughly when I get it back tomorrow. She said it would be $2800 for a clutch if it was bad. I said fck that, put the old clutch on the new tranny. Guess I'm hoping for the best and that the clutch is ok.

You guys can buy a replacement performance clutch/flywheel with installation for under $1,500. I can't belive the dealership telling some of you those ridiculous prices.

I tested the same thing with the 6th gear from 40mph, RPMs barely moved, so I guess my clutch is fine. New Transmission will be installed Wednesday

Clutch stuck to floor wont shift into gear.

This has just happento my car today. I can't shift into any gears. The clutch was getting stuck to the floor recently. I thought I might have just needed some wd40. I noticed today it was even lighter than before and I wasn't even driving the car it just got worst in time. The vdc & slip light would get stuck on for about a month now but nothing major happen so it would disappear when I turned the car on again. I know my brakes was wearing down the dealer said it can cause the fluid to burn quicker. I believe I was below low on brake fluid months ago I believe it is completely depleted now tho. Don't ask why I drove so long like this. I think I was waiting for an service light to come on. I called the dealer when it was first getting stuck they said my extended expired i only have powertrain and transmission now I can't shift it into gear. I brought the car with 27k miles 2 years ago it has 42k on it now.

Well if this manual is correct it says its the clutch fluid but I swore the cap said brake fluid. I know the other one is differential the one that isn't depleted. I hope I just need fluid.
